CT was awesome today

Rode out at Middlesex today. Amazing, frozen, very little snow, a bit of ice on the puddles. Awesome time, despite a missed meeting and no cell phone to rectify.

After I got home I threw the studs on my HT and rode around on the pond in my neighborhood, it was fuuuuun.

Since we've finally figured out the place, and don't have to do the same nasty climbs THREE times to find the cool stuff, I now think Middlesex rates right up there with West Woods, and it is a lot closer.

My self-preservation instincts got the best of me on one of those ridges. I couldn't get the idea of a 100 foot misstep outta my head, so I walked about 20 feet. There was nothing terribly technical about the stretch, but the exposure if, say, you sneezed, was pretty high.

There's a really cool ancient quarry that looks to have been worked using hand tools for at least a couple of thousand years, and maybe a lot more. If you climb down inside the hole, you can see the vein they were following. There's flakes all over the place. There must be some published info on it somewhere. I'lll hafta look later on.

It was really fine to ride dirt again, especially cement-hard ground like yesterday. Unfortunately, Spring is right around the corner. ;)
