Imagine that ;D. I just finished building it last night(OK it needs a der. cable and housing, but it's basically done). Sucker is heavy but it should be a very fun bike.

Hey, no singlespeed? That came out nice. I've been eyein' a chameleon frame to replace my old Stumpjumper, I like that the geometry on the chameleon can handle a 130mm fork without making a chopper outt'a the bike (like my old stumpjumper)

Thanks, it's a '03 Z1 FR. It has the ETA feature (not sure if I'll ever use it but it sure sounds cool). No SS. Right now it'll be a manual shift 2X9. I made that name up but basically I don't have a big enough front derailleur so I'll just stop and move the chain to granny for longer climbs. This thing is in no way going to be a fast XC bike, I have my singlespeeds for that. This is more like a fun trail bike to try to get a little better at drops etc. I'm going to go out some night next week and play on it in town to see how it rides and dial in the stem height etc.

I have a 'Zoke Z1 Freeride with ETA, and I rarely use it. It is nice to have when you are trying to get up a tough little rock climb.

That thing's sweet. I've got one of those Z1's also - lost the lever for the ETA this fall..might wanna give it a little tightening now and then.

Yeah I read somewhere that the ETA lever can get knocked loose. I never got up in time to go to Wachusett today so I put some flats on and ran a rear der. cable. Going to go cruise around this afternoon to see how it feels (I'm expecting it to feel totally different than any other bike I've ridden - way more fork under me). Should be fun. The only thing I noticed is I might need to run a shorter length BB spindle (113 now). The chainline's ugly when it's in the 34 and it sounds like it wants to drop (probably will under load). Other than that all the parts from the Komodo went right over (besides the HS & post). I'm pretty psyched, it's more bike than I'll ever need but then again I don't think I'll break this one :).

Rode for 1.5 in town and had a blast. Even a loser like me can ride a wheelie on this bike (kind of). The flats made things easier and the bike was a lot of fun. I dropped some stuff ( 3 - 4 ' foot stairs/ledges) I never would have and rode down the skinny edges of staircases at one of the local schools (fun stuff and relatively safe as the drop to the ground is like 6" because they are built into a hillside). This is the easiest bike to trackstand I've ever ridden. It comes off the ground so easy it's ludicrous and dropping it felt more intuitive - like it did what I wanted it to real easily.

I did learn the following:

The rear QR needs to be super tight

And I really need a front derailluer

The Z1 is awesome ;D

And last but not least, I really should not attempt a 4' - 5' drop for awhile, that was kind of stupid and the fork saved my a$$. All around this bike is gonna rock in the woods, now I can't wait for the trails to dry out and firm up.
