WMNF plan?

What's the dirt on the 'wilderness' designation, etc that was being tossed about last fall? Any decisions made yet by the powers? Hopefully things wont change too much and/or set new precedents against us........

Steve - the Forest Service is wading through the comments, and expects to issue a Record of Decision and the final forest management plan in September '05. There's a little info here: http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/white/3_WM_fpr_Web/forest_plan/revision/

One local Ranger told me that mountain bikers submitted by far the most comments of any user group. Hopefully they will listen to what we had to say.

As far as additional Wilderness, that would be recommended to Congress, who would have to pass a bill to authorize it. Many people question whether Dubya would sign any new Wilderness bills.
