I'm taking a psychology course in which I am the only guy in the class. We had to read this story and describe who we liked the most and the least and why. I have now gotten into major arguments with most of the women in the class.
So, do me a favor. Read this senseless story, and tell me who you think is the best and worst person. I need more MALE point of views!!
pardon the spelling and grammar. not mine. copied and pasted:
There was a woman named Annabel and everyday she crossed the bridge to see her boyfriend Greg who lived on the other side. On night a terrible storm came through the area where they lived and destroyed the bridge. The next day Annabel had no way to cross the bridge to see her boyfriend Greg. Because the river was infester with alligators she could not swim over. She saw a man named Sinbad who had a boat. She approached Sinbad and asked him to take her across the river in his boat so she could see her boyfriend. Sinbad said “sure but you will have to sleep with me first.” Annabel did not know what to do so she went to see her best friend Ruth and get some advice. She told Ruth of her dilemma but Ruth replied, “I really don’t want to get involved. You need to make this decision on your own.” Annabel then walked back to Sinbad and accepted his offer. Sinbad, true to his word, took Annabel across the river where she was reunited with Greg. However, Annabel decided to tell Greg how she got across the river. When Greg found out he was upset and asked her to leave the house. Annabel walked down the riverbank crying and happened upon a man named Sluggo. Sluggo saw Annabel crying and asked what happened. Annabel told him the whole story. Sluggo said he would like to meet Greg so they walked back up the river bank. Upon meeting Greg, Sluggo punched him in the nose and knocked him out. The story ends as Annabel and Sluggo are laughing while standing over Greg’s passed out body.

This is more of a moral/ ethics problem, and how one defines "best" and "worst".
Having said that, here is my male take of the situation:
Best:Greg
Worst:Annabel

Worst: Sinbad
Best: Greg
This story is designed to get males and females into arguments. It's supposed to bring out the differences in how we think. You're exactly where you're supposed to be. How does that make you feel?

Worst: Sluggo - for trying to get in Annabel's pants by acting outraged at what Greg had done.
Best: Greg for realizing his girlfriend is an idiot, and not smart enough to rent a boat from someone who wouldn't demand sex as payment.
That has to be the most asinine premise I've heard in a long time. Abstract ethics arguments are crap as they don't relate to reality.

fantastic. I'm in Male-bashing hell. I'm the guest on Oprah during the "why men suck" topic.
So, MOST of the women say that Greg is the biggest a-hole. Why? Because Annabel puts more into the relationship then Greg (wtf?), so he had no right to get mad at her. Plus annabel made a huge sacrifice for him by screwing that guy (wtF?!), and it was ONLY sex and she really loves Greg (WTF?!) Most of the girls like Annabel the most...
course, later we find out a lot of the ladies in the class have been in "bad relationships." Go figure.

There is no right answer when you have to make judgements on others. All the persons in the class who answered the question as asked are diplaying their predjudge, exposing their own psycology to the group. They are Annabel.
Being a passive agressive myself i would sugest getting all quiet and withdrawn in class. Make them work to get your opinion, like Greg, and when they challange you then just say "ok, fine decide for yourself" like Ruth, and go back to being quiet.
They all know how girls think and you can learn from the experiance there. Use the power you have as the spokesman for the male gender and barter your opinion like Sinbad.
Of course when the professer (sluggo) finds out what you doing your probably going to get a low grade (punch in the nose) and possibly fail(knocked out) then they can all have a nice laugh over it.

O.K. I'm not a guy but here's my 2 cents worth.
I think Annabell's the worst, because she was stupid enough to cross the river everyday to visit Greg who couldn't get off his lazy ass to go see her and then she was dumb enough to sleep with Sinbad.
Nobody's worth that much effort.

Sounds like these two are made for each other. Why was I waiting for a tidal wave to hit while I was reading this piece?

I should have stopped reading right there. Most women are pretty resonable i think, but when you put that much vagina in a room you need to run like a kenyan in the boston marathon.
Worst: Anabel. For whoring herself out for a boat ride. "It's just sex" never flys for a guy. "Well i didn't love the bar maid that i boned last night, but she gave me a ride home to see you when i was too hammered to call a cab or drive." It's a bullsh*t double standard. >:(
Best: Greg. He's the man because he got to play video games and drink beer all day rather then spend the time walking to see Anabel, and he was nailing Ruth all along when Anabel wasn't around, which explains why she didn't want to be involved. 8)
Sluggo the other twit. That guy should be pushed into the river of aligators for thinking he's the nobel prize winning problem solver. ::)
Dang, my twisted views could be a topic in your psyc class :D

Wow, talk about a disfunctional group! How do you side with any of them? Well, other than the good and enterprising Captain Sinbad. You should have sided with him just to see what reaction you get from the whores... i mean, women.

I think they are all stupid.
Annabel is just an idiot for getting into the situation.
Sinbad is a dick for requiring sex as payment. Plus he's an awful comedian.
Ruth should have been a better friend and told Annabel not to whore herself out.
Sluggo is just an egomaniacal ass that wanted to victimize a man for actually confronting his girlfriend for doing something that was ethically wrong.
Greg's an idiot for letting himself getting sucker punched.

Ruth = Best. Smart enough not to get involved with Anabel's drama.
Anabel = Worst. Stupid bitch should have waited a few days for another, more attractive, boat captain to come along and bang. And she should get her bell rung for pimping her booty for such a low price. Now, how is she going to get home? She'll probably have to do Sluggo again. She should have negotiated a better deal. There ain't nothing wrong with being a prostitute --- we all do it or would do it. There is only a problem with selling out for a bargain-basement price. Respect yourself people!

Woah there cavemen settledown.
Damn LOL ! What a bunch a "misogynistic" prattle! Do yall hate your Moms or just your wives and girlfriends. ;)
I know you are kidding ::) ;D at least I really hope you all were...otherwise sheeet I think I understand why more woman don't mountainbike...
Greg = -25 "What the hell is he doing making that girl travel to him and not looking after her saftey?
Annabelle-25 For being dumb and gulable enough to sleep with either of the two jerks then laughing with Sluggo over Greggs downfall! But obviouslly she is not the sharpest knife in the draw.
Sinbad = -40 He is likley a but ugly married ******* who sold his morals for a chance at the prize. Is this the kinda guy you would want handy when your daughter or sister were in a tough place?
Sluggo= -50 He is either just a big time nosey ******* or he is sfter some annabelle booty...probably both!
Jeez... that much what in one room? When I was a young whipper snapper that was the room I wanted to be in! ;D

Greg is the man, because he is getting Annabel to come to him everyday. He has made her want him, by being not intrested in her. He never crosses the river, and when she has to prostitute herself to see him, he kicks her to the curb. Sluggo is a major wuss, because he punches out Greg thereby getting himself put in Annabel's "long term relationship" category, which means that she isn't going to sleep with him any time soon. Sinbad is just an opportunist. He sees a way to get laid, and acts upon it. Ruth is quite possibly banging Greg on the side, too, because she tells Annabel to decide on her own. A real and true friend would have told her to find another boyfriend. Annibel is the biggest loser, because she lost her boyfriend, her best friend has told her she isn't going to help her, she banged a boat captain just to get across a river, and a guy she just met has pnched out her boyfriend.

Do you think it's possible these women feel as though they put more into the relationships than their partners did, thus making the relationships "bad"?

Trailbait - I don't know how much "advice" you should take from this thread. Seems to me that Jerseygirl is the only woman to offer an opinion. The rest seem like poorly supported male affirmation and, even if you give everyone who pitched in the benefit of the doubt, it amounts to not much more than the kind of venting you'd get in the frat house at a Friday keg party.
If you REALLY want to know how to better deal with the women in your class, you need to know how they think, not how your poker buddies think. I am not saying one is right and the other wrong, just that there's a lot more than "right" and "wrong" if you're trying to understand how to deal with people. That would seem to be the point of the exercise.
Sorry I don't have more to offer. I'm 48 and still collecting data. Sometimes, my wife thinks I'm an insensitive pig. Sometimes, I thinks she's a bitch. We do best together when we put that aside.

Don't listen to HIM!!! That's namby pamby talk. Stand your ground man! Unless of course you want to get under any of their skirts. Then, of course, you act understanding and pretend to see her point. Make sure you use a pained James Dean look, so she just thinks you're a simian male trying to enlighten himself. You'll do fine. Don't let them find out about eachother whatever you do. Go get em Sluggo!

My brothers, we are wasting our time trying to figure out how the female mind works, especially with regard to relationships. We are powerless; they are in control and secretly rule the world.
For proof, rent the movie "Clerks" and watch the scene where the main character (Dante?) has an argument with his girlfriend after he finds out she is being "friendly" with another guy. It will make your head spin.

well its obvious that greg is rich or just a straight up player. why else would annabel go and visit him every single day and why else would she be so desperate to get across the river? and annabel obviously isnt the brightest in the bunch because she shouldve just offered sinbad money or pushed him into the river to get a free boat.

Interesting how one sided the answers are depending on which gender you are.
this is another case of honesty not always being the best idea.
Annabel could have told Gregg she rented the boat without giving the true price, thus saving Gregg's feelings and nose while maintaining her one sided relationship with Gregg.
or
she could have waited till they built a new bridge and kept her honor and saved Gregg's feelings, nose and her one sided relationship without puttin out to the drunkin old sailor.
Annabel is they only one to be held accountable in this story........after all it is not the sailors fault that she took his offer nor is it Greggs for being hurt by the choice and sluggo is simply an opertunist who took advantage of her choices and it was her choises that determined the ending of the story.
