I'm building up a hard tail jump bike.My xc bike has a 23" top tube. The frame I'm looking at (mtn cycle rumble) comes in 22,23,and 24" lenghts.I'm 5'11".I might use it for technical xc as well.Whats the general concencious?

pure jump bike? the shorter one 22. I am 5'9" and had a Planet X I jumped with that had a 23" tt and it was really stable in a straight line but I now have a Sinister DNA with a 21.5 tt and its much easier to move around and control

Can't give any help re: the TT length, but a buddy of mine picked up one of those Rumbles a month or two back and it rides the balls; real fun bike.

I'm 5'11"... just built my first FR bike.

My XC bike has a 23" actual TT... on a 19.5" frame... (long stem, all layed out)

My FR bike has a 21.5" actual TT, or 22.3" effective TT on a 17" frame.

I wanted the 17" frame, but I was real concerned about it being too short or too tight. It turns out it's not bothersome at all. Different - yes. It didn't really take any getting used to. Everything is just 'right there'. It feels right at home when things get real technical, or when you're airing it out. I'd probably go for the 22", although the 23 would also be nice if you're running a shorter stem.

Here's my bike all setup the way I like it. You'll probably notice the laid back seat. That might prompt you to go with the 23"... I don't know...
