I am tempted.
The one major purchace (with my stove $) i have decided on is new skis. My son learned last winter and took to it very fast. I pulled my 15 year old ski package out and chased him on the bunny hills till i tried my first jump and learned first hand what they mean by old boot fatigue. I shot the entire kit in the dumpster right there at the hill.
So I would have to rent. That may hold you up a bit and i am out of practice so that would slow you down too and i ski and am not interested in learning to snowboard so you would have to be seen with a skier and my plates say MASSACHUSETTS.
But on the good side i do have a real ski jacket and bibs that are not denim.

Conditions Sunday were excellent. We're planning to take some turns on Friday.
Have fun!

So Bill it kind of sounds like you are tempted to go....but not really ready to hit the slopes. Your drive to get up here and back will be very long...too long for a day trip. Renting equipment and buying a lift ticket will be so outrageous expensive, that you'll have to sell your fancy ski pants and go back to wearing "ski" jeans.
Ok so buy some new skis and we'll talk. Bill you should look into getting Telemark skis and boots! You probably would like having the option to do some Backcountry (or backyard) skiing as well. Check out one of these demo days!

I bet you'd be easy to spot -- you're the guy skiing down the slope in blue jeans. ;D

i'm going for the first time this year on the 28th to watervile, but the highlight of my season should be the anual scout ski trip to shawnee peak in maine, shawnee is definately a hidden jewl.

Sunday River was great today! It was warm, sunny, good soft snow! Jordan bowl needs one more good dump and the glades and woods will be rideable. Although Lollapalooza is an “easy” trail its one of my favorites. Nice wide open rollie hills, all kinds of rocks, jumps and banks on the sides, water pipes to grind, good stuff!
