Dear NEMBA Member,
All of us who are part of NEMBA give you our best wishes for the holidays. It's been an great year for mountain biking and NEMBA, and we thank all the hundreds of volunteers who have given of themselves to better our sport and our organization. We wish all of you and your families good health and much happiness for the coming year.
Never fear. There is still plenty of good riding to be had, and if you're looking for ways to expend some holiday calories, what better way than to hit the trail on your mountain bike!

Celebrate the Holidays by Riding your Bike and Donating Toys
Join NEMBA at either of the two events listed below to celebrate the coming holidays and help donate toys to needy children. Both events are this Sunday, December 5th:

The US Army Corps of Engineers is one of the nation's largest land managers, caring for 12 million acres of land and more than 4300 recreation sites. In New England there are dozens of extensive Corps properties that have great potential for recreational trail development and maintenance. NEMBA Helps Start the Friends of Wompatuck State Park
Bill Boles and Steve Cobble of Southeast Mass NEMBA have become founding members of the Friends of Wompatuck State Park. The new group will be a multi-user volunteer citizen's organization to help improve the park for all the many users and assist Ranger Steve Gammon find solutions for improving access, providing maps, and promoting the park in the local communities. Pioneer Valley NEMBA Donates to Volunteer Firefighters
The Pioneer Valley chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association has given a $300 donation to the town of Granby, Massachusetts to benefit the Granby Volunteer Fire Department. According to Chapter President, George Willard, the fire department volunteers have provided exemplary service to the town, and on occasion, have been called on to assist injured trail users at the Batchelor Street area. "We as a user group, certainly appreciate the work and degree of professionalism shown by this fine group of volunteers. This donation is a token of our appreciation for their fine efforts."

Send Letters / Emails to Protect Riding in the White Mountains
December 16th is the deadline to send in your comments urging the US Forest Service protect mountain bike access in the White Mountains, as well as protect the environment. NEMBA Debuts "Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day" with Three Events
The first Saturday of every October is now officially IMBA's Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day, and to kick off its inauguration, NEMBA staged three great events at Great Brook Farm, the Blue Hills and the West Hartford Reservoir. SingleTracks Annual Photo Contest and Boston MTB Video Awards
Submissions to NEMBA's Annual Photo Contest must be sent in by the end of the year. Share your best pictures and possibly win gift certificates from Wheelworks. Pictures can be emailed to pk@nemba.org or sent to NEMBA's post office box.
If you're a budding filmmaker, please send in your 5-6 minute video submissions to the Boston Mountain Bike Video Awards. This year's event will be held on Saturday, April 30th, so mark your calendar. Films should be sent in by the end of January. Mail them to NEMBA Videos, PO Box 2221, Acton MA 01720.
