One last pic of the finished project. I was reading an old MBAction and fould an article on the future of MTB. The question was posed to Industry and racer types who all agreed that the future is to get kids involved. The general manager of Mamonth replied that they would have as many kids in their MTB camp as they have in their ski camp if only there were bikes for kids. After following Noah on this bike i am inclined to agree.
We did the Turkey burner on Friday and a ride at Great Brook on Saturday. He did 20 miles at the burner and close to 4 hours on the bike. We did another 2 hours at GB and he never took it out of the middle ring. Pine point-5bridges-Trophet loop(the hard way)-Heartbreak ridge-Garrison-indian rock and woodchuck up the gravel hill past the new bridge and up the hill passing Stone Row. He was very proud of riding it all.
Thank you for indulging this Fathers selfish pride. Here is the boy with his bike. The pose inspired by MBAction.

I'm with you, Bill. There's going to be a Specialized Hot Rock under the tree for my 5-year old daughter.

Bill,

That's a great pic and story - love the bike.
I think the pic is worthy of this:

That's awesome that he loves to ride. I just built a nice little P2 singlespeed for my 9yo stepson Dillan. It's still a little big for him, so I'm going to put some 24" wheels on it. At this point he's mostly into jumping and stunts on his bmx bike and is dying to come DHing w/ me. I'd like to hook him up w/ one of the BigHit Groms next year; I think he'd have a blast on one.

Speaking of kids, I went to a FR/BBQ thing this past w/e and there were three boys between 8 and 11 riding w/ us most of the day. It seems I'm seeing more kids and teenagers getting into MTBing these days, specially FR, DH and street/park riding. Pretty cool.

I wish that my kid would ride when it gets cold. He would be so much better if he rode all year round, like I try to do.
