"That's Frankenshteen, you dolt."
OK I realize this should be filed into the "Show off your SS thread," but what the heck, this one's kind of cool. Since it's that Halloweeney time of year, it seems appropriate to feature a bike that was brought back from the dead and features parts & pieces scavenged from other (dead) bikes...
My good pal, Dr. Frankenstein (aka Couching Tiger) gave me this frame during a frenzy of basement-cleaning at Couch HQ. Someone had left it on his doorstep with a crushed downtube and a dinged up seat tube.
Couch whipped out the 'ol welding rig and paint gun, and the result is what you see.

Here's the scar from the surgery...(lower right hand corner: looks like a patch with flames coming off).

Here's the ding in the seat tube...I think a car was backed over this frame or something like that...

Other than the seatpost (29.4 mm: wtf?) and the 1" headset, the chain is only new part on the bike: the rest came from the parts box. Stole the wheels from my old SS.

Good God this is painful
You had just better hope radair doesn't read this post
to re-size pics, I would suggest using a free image editing/ viewing program such as ifran view (www.irfanview.com) you can then resize you pics that lend themselves to be viewed on forum posts.
Cool bike, I'm planning a SS conversion soon.

Sweet! Looks nice. Pretty sweet custom/handpainted graphics too ;)
Glad you're able to use it.
Let me know if you need anything else. I've got loads of junk!

Nice Pix ;)
What kind of chain tensioner are you using? How do you like it?
Is that a salsa front ring?
Later,
Dan

The ring's a Salsa 34. I bought it at the beginning of the year to replace the worn out XT that had been on the geared mtb, but then found a deal on a whole raceface crankset for ~the same as a middle & a big shimano ring.
Regular ol' Surly Singleator from last year. The new Singleators are a lot cooler looking, they changed out the boring little chain retainer loop they used to keep the chain on the pulley wheel for a really sharp looking chromed chainguide wheel. Looks like something you might find in an old wind-up clock. Wish I had one of those...
