Have 2 friends coming in from out of state 2nd weekend of Nov. Trying to line up a full day of riding. Would love to go to NH/VT but think it would be too cold. Have done local riding (Acton/Leominster), but want a bit more of an adventure. Any recommendations for MA/CT/RI rides (ex. Trail of Tears??) that would hold us for a day? Thanks!

Midstate trail is sweet for an XC ride, specially if you're in the Leo area. Use a shuttle vehicle and do a nice long point-to-point ride (for some reason, 'destination' rides seem more adventurous than loops to me.) FOMBA trails are a blast, Lynn or Nam is mandatory if you're looking for FR type stuff, tho both have plenty of riding even if you're not. I guess it kind of depends what you're looking for.

A full day ride is a tall order here in the land of scattered public land.
Keep one eye on the weather and the other on the web sites. Most good rides form in the week before the ride. I have been known to lead a full day at Harold Parker/Ward in North Andover this time of year, with very little encouragement.

That's one of the things that's really sweet about the midstate - it links a lot of parcels of woods together. From the base of Mt Watatic on 119 in Ashby, you can head south to Narrows Rd in Westminster on well marked mainly singletrack, do a couple road miles to Leo SF, go east thru the entire park, then parallel Rt 2 all the way to exit 30. Probably somewhere around 7 hours at a good steady pace, and that's if you take the shortest path thru Leo: you could easily add a few hours on nice singletrack there if you wanted to. There's even more trails from exit 30 heading south into Princeton or Sterling, but I'm not very familiar with that area... man, there's so much good riding around here ;D ;D ;D
