I think you'll be OK with a hunting vest from the dept. store. I usually wear a bright orange t - shirt over my riding clothes, and occasionally a bright orange helmet too. No one has ever bothered me about it in the woods though. There is hunting in most spots except Lincoln Woods.

Yes the typical dept store hunter orange vest is over 200 sq in. Use some common sense about the time you ride (hunting concentrates at dawn & dusk) and the color of clothing. Brown clothing, antlered helmets or a white rag in the pocket could be begging for trouble. Some people ride with a little bell to warn those intent on taking a 'sound shot'.
