On Sept 26th South Central NH held it’s 3rd Annual Lucky Lamson Fun Ride at Lamson Farm, Mont Vernon and it did not rain! ;D The sun was shining, the sky was a beautiful brilliant blue, it was warm and dry, just an absolutely perfect day. A perfect day for mountain biking and poker!

We had a very nice turn out for this NEMBA/EFTA fun ride. There were lots of families this year, some with kids that looked to be only 4 or 5 years old. It was mostly local folks, but we did have a few people from as far away as Medford and Haverhill MA drive up to join us.
The money raised will go to the Peabody Mill Environmental Center in Amherst and to the Lamson Farm Land Trust.

There were a couple of new features at this year’s event. We had a skills area where people could practice on bridges, teeter-totters and skinnies. There was also a 4-mile “hero” loop for those who wanted a longer ride.

But poker was the main game, and the best hand, second best and worst hand all won prizes. This year winning hand was a flush, all hearts, jack high. But even those people who had cards that stank still had a good chance to win some great swag, thanks to our sponsors: Souhegan Cycleworks, Nault’s - Nashua, Goodale’s - Nashua, Underground Ski Market – Nashua, Trek Stop, Jake’s Bike Shop, Sport Loft, Planet Bike, Ritchey, Deuter, Cliff Bar, Life is Good, Innovations Day Spa, Foodies – Milford, Shaws – Milford, and J. Beaners Coffee House.

We would not have had such a great day if there were not so many great people who stepped forward to help out. So a big thank to those who sat in the woods for 4 hours: Scott & Audrey, Jan Woodbury, George K., Tim, and Beth. To those who manned the registration table: Mary Kormanos & Harry. To Peter & Mike for catching the riders who fell off the stunts (and for delivering hot dogs & drinks to us in the woods!). To Glenn for patching up the wounded. To Bob for wrenching & drinks. To Ron for being head chef (and loudest cheerleader). To Norie who sorted signs. And thank you to those who stayed to help clean everything up.

THis was an excellent event. Well worth the trip. I really enjoyed stopping and hanging out at the card stations. The trails were excellent and we were treated to a section of new single track as well. I felt a real sence of familly from the chapter there all helping for a good cause. Cool stunts, lots of swag, lots of fun.

Congratulations to all on this sucessfull event, and thanks.
