I was in Wampatuck this weekend and noticed that a few of the paths (none singletrack, I don't think) had been widened significantlly and that telephone poles had been put up. Anyone know what's going on? The area I noticed it the most was where Pleasant Street connects to the park.

Not to be concerned. the right of ways were widened for service trucks. Other road sections were widened last year and the tree trunks were stacked in the gravel pit like a logging operation. Its a state park, so don't worry about development.

saw the new 'poles' last month. talked with ranger, new poles is for electric service to camping area. the existing underground service failed and is too expensive to replace. he and others are monitoring. a few new trails may come from this project. be patient.

the reason this operation was so destructive, was mainly because it was being provided for free by the town. and they got to call the shots.
