I find it funny that Romney would actually veto this... Kudos to our legislature looking out for our rights...
"New legislation will require that the Registry of Motor Vehicles update
its driver's manual and driving test to include information about
bicycles and bike safety, possibly for the first time in state history.
The Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition, or MassBike, a statewide bicycling
education and advocacy group, claimed a "decisive legislative victory"
Friday when the state Senate overrode Governor Mitt Romney's veto of an
outside section of the 2005 budget, which included the language. The
state House of Representatives overrode Romney's veto last week.
"This is a major victory for MassBike and bicyclists across the
Commonwealth," said the MassBike executive director, Dorie Clark, in a
press release. "As it stands now, driver's education does not adequately
discuss how drivers should relate to bicyclists on the road. This is the
time when a captive audience of citizens becomes educated about driving,
and it is essential to include information about all roadway users."
