;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Ordered this up couple months ago. It's due to arrive in August. Mine will be black. Price? :-X You don't wana know.
It's a real small bike, only can use 24" wheels, but I've talked with a bunch of people that are 6' and > that ride these. One guy claims he rides his XC; pffffffffffff.............. ::) It's not a downhill bike either, though I guess it can be used for light downhill. It's designed for a 5-6" fork up front and it's got 6" in the rear. Now if only the 2005 forks were out now.

Well it's the Mack Daddy of Urban Assault. I like it as it's sick and unique. Like me, well ::) not the sick, just the unique. It uses a jackshaft mechanism to drive the rear end which supposedly produces 0 bob. And yes, it's no 24lb XC bike either. It's all steel, and heavy as a ****er ****er . It's got a concentric bb which is used to tension the chain on the left side. Only problem is I'll be waiting a while for the rest of the parts for it as I'm broked after buying this. Not broke, broked.

$3500 for a frame? I'd never spend that much ;D

When that is done you'd better chain your ass to it. I have a feeling that if you turn your back on it , it will be "Gone in 60 Seconds" Are you going to name it Eleanor?

Yeah, I'd be very upset if any of my bikes got ripped. I'm nervous about riding it in Worcester on the streets. Seeing that there has been plenty of gunfire / carjackings this summer. I gotta find out if bikes are covered under homeowners insurance as well

My bikes are covered by my renter's insurance, you should be all set. Might want to take pics, and document them(serial numbers) and keep the pics in a fire proof box/safe. Check with the insurance co., it's worth it.

Make SURE your insurance is for FULL REPLACEMENT VALUE.......not pro-rated.

Wow, The chain and cranks look BMX. I saw somewhere in a magazine that honda was building something like that, except everything was enclosed. I'll look for a photo.

Seen it, it's Honda's new EYESORE of a downhill bike. Gregg Minnar has been smoking the downhill scene on that bike. Some think it's awesome, I think it's idiodic looking. But same can be said for my new bike. I just think that the Honda looks too much like a focking dirt bike.

Geez, I am outta touch. Honda? They can OWN the industry if they want. Are there pix somewhere?

They don't show it on their web site, or even mention that they are developing DH bikes. I have no idea what this thing would cost the common man.

July 30th, 2004, 04:36 PM
There's a newer version than that one. I'll try and find it.

Usually, a bike like that is made by whatever well-known builder the "manufacturer"might want to use, but I suspect Honda would do it all in-house. And I bet it kicks ass.

Gotta think they plan to sell them, but maybe the exposure alone would make the effort worthwhile. I suppose there's lots of crossover between downhill riders and fans and the moto crowd.

C'mon, tell us exactly hw much it cost. I want to feel better about myself. I spent $150.00 in GAS ALONE in June driving to races and running around to ride on decent trails. Make me feel better....!

I don't think they will sell them anytime soon. That's what I read. However this dud, Minnar is winning just about every downhill competition on this bike.

Time for me to check the downhill sites and catch up. I let my magazine subscriptions lapse a while ago.

Knuck - I think ctg is asking about your own rig, and the cost.

It costs $3500 ::)
Ok now everyone jump all over me and tell me I'm nuts ;D
Yes, I'm nuts. I however am not satisfied with ordinary bikes as I am not ordinary. Honestly that's the primary reason I bought it. Besides the fact that it's the mac daddy of urban assault. Least that's what Doc and Joe from BMW say. I never thought I would own and drive a BMW ;D
I'm stoked for this bike. I'm suffering from sensory overload though with the parts selection. All it needs though is seat, post, bars, stem, headset, pedals, wheels and fork. Cranks and shock are included. Imagine that ha? $3500 and the cranks are included ;D
I'm probably gonna go with king hubs with steel freehub body, fun bolts, trailpimp rims. Not sure about the fork though. I might wait for either the Marz 66 to come out or the Fox 36. Or perhaps if impatience gets the best of me, a Z150.
Wife is upset at me for getting another black bike.
That honda bike is whack. Still looks too funky to me. Too dirt bike much, but then again look at my bike ;D
Maybee the Honda will grow on me. I'm hoping to do a little downhill on this bike as well, if I ever have a free weekend from doing carpentry and patio work.

Kunck, you're not nuts, you're actually pretty sane. I'm 19 and have a bike collection that is probably nearing $20,000 dollars (we're talking Complete bikes, frames, and spare parts). I have 5 functional bikes (Santa Cruz Superlight all XTR, Schwinn Homegrown Factory Limited all XTR, Soma Fab Cross bike, Trek 8500 converted into a singlespeed, and a Cannondale r800 road bike)and 3 frames (a Cannondale CAAD 5 road frame, a Trek Carbon hardtail, and a 97 Trek 8500). Nevermind the boxes full of random goodies (highlights include XTR cranks, shifters, cassettes (some worn, some not), duraace cassette (new) blah blah blah)

Again, I'm 19. I could have paid for half a year with college with that (bikes are definitely more worth it though)

So, who's the nut case now?

Well, I only have 4 bikes.
Gack HT
IH Hollowpoint MTX
Soon- the BMW
Haro - BMX

It just may seem that I have endless bikes as I get sick of stuff real quick and buy/sell and lose my shirt a lot

Takes me a long time to find something I'm completely happy with. I haven't touched the Gack, that's set up how I like it.
The Hollowpoint is a dream.
Then I'm gonna bling out the BMW and then I'm done ::)

EVERYBODY HEAR IT? DONE.
I'm not buying another bike for 2 years.
2 years
Unless something catostrophic happens, bike is stolen, frame brakes. DONE

Sure, and I'm a skinny racer-boy. ;D

You are just like me, we have to buy and sell bikes to keep us going. To us, it's a drug. My riding buddies are always on me about having a new bike every year, or at least something new every ride.

I've got a nyquist R2, I think. It's the all chro-mo one, not the high tensile steel one. I'm selling the bike. Let me know if your interested. Every part on the bike has been swapped out
