So last weekend on the MS Great Mass Getaway 2 day ride, MsCouch and I (riding tandem) hooked up with so good folks. There was a pair of guys from team Yagerdogs (Tyler Hamilton's dad's team) and and a truely twisted guy named Rich who was doing Saturday's century and Sunday's 75 miles on a fixed gear.
It seems Rich, who lives local, also tends to ride early AM's. We planned to hook up earlier in this week for a ride this AM. In typical form, the crew (PK, AA and I) did a road ride last night, 43 miles at a decent pace and then ate ribs and drank like fish until fairly late.
Start time this AM was 5:30. At 5Am on the dot the phone rings. Guess who? Guess what? "Ouch, my legs hurt and I've got a headache so I'm going back to bed". OK, guess it's just Ms and I. Fine.
It's friggin cold at 5:30AM!
Excellent time though. We met as planned and put in 30 miles in an hour and half and were back home just after 7AM. The roads were nearly deserted at first and we got a good clean early start to the day. Good stuff, I think I'm going to do more of it.
