Just in case anyone missed it
Last Sunday we were at bear brook and lo and behold they were having a motocross race! on the trails no less.
I was told by the girl in the ticket booth that it was a 1 time charity event sponsered by the Allenstown PD. Also they would be leaving by 2pm. Well we tried to co exist but every 5 minutes the bikes would come by, and. not wanting to get run over we had to jump off the trails. or whats left of them. On Sunday by 11.30-12 pm the trails they were using were reduced to 4-5 inches of dust and sand with occasional roots suspended in mid air. This little bit of atv riding basicly ruined the trails. Plus several runners, bikers and fishermen opted to leave rather than put up with the noise, dust, smoke, etc. If we dont get it together and stop this activity I'm afraid Bear Brook will be another Clough state park. I just hope the trails are repairable.
