PLANNING TO CAMP IN THE CONWAY AREA DURING 2ND WEEK IN AUGUST. WAS HOPING TO TAKE THE FAMILY ON A FEW GOOD RIDES. THREE CHILDREN WILL BE IN TOWE. THE YOUNGEST IN A BIKE SEAT. THE OTHER TWO ARE FIVE AND ELEVEN AND CAN HANDLE 5-6 MILES ROUND-TRIP. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.
P.S. THE FLATTER THE BETTER!
THANKS ....CHRIS

The Conway Recreation path along the Saco would be the best choice for you. It starts behind the police station. Whitaker woods might be a good choice also. Try calling one of the local bike shops. They could probably provide even more options.

He could also take a ride over to Franconia and the bike trail which starts around the Flume and goes through the notch!

APPRECIATE THE INFO, THANK YOU. THE NHBIKES.COM SITE HAD SOME GREAT TRAIL DESCRIPTIONS. SOUNDS LIKE THE "OLD MILL" TRAIL IS GOING TO WORK US. I'LL HIT THE BIKE SHOPS WHEN I GET THERE, GET SOME MORE INFO. THANKS AGAIN

Actually, it's not flat, but if you want to take them on a true mtb ride away from civilization, the Rob Brook road off of Bear Notch is pretty easy riding. It's a gravel road, but does have some small hills. It's 8 1/2 miles long, and would be an out-n-back. You could go as far as you wanted and turn around when everyone was tired. :P /
FWIW: There's a bunch of sweet riding in the Conway area, but a lot of it isn't for beginners. If you are going to be there for a week, you should try and get out by yourself, or hook up with the Red Jersey for one of their group rides.
