Recommendation for Ladies Bike

I'm a beginner rider, am about 5'2" tall and weigh 135. I borrowed a friends Trek this weekend and had a great time up at Kingdom Trails in VT. Now I want my own bike. I have to keep it under $400 tops and would consider new or used. I'll never be a very agressive rider (too damn old for that) but want a bike that's good for intermediate trails, is light and well made. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with my 12 year old son for another year or so....

Any suggestions?

go to belmont wheelworks in waverly square, belmont.
they have lots of leftovers from previous year. at 5'2" you will need an x-small (i'm pretty sure there's a fisher hardtail size xs from a few years back there) or a womens specific design size small.
