Mt.A TODD

I know that a bunch of Fat tire freaks will be partaking in this event, should be a Wicked Good Time!
Could be muddy, might be dusty, probably be bumpy...
Are you up for the challenge?
Leave your expensive trick equipment at home! No TT bars will be allowed and fragile wheels are discouraged on this scenic, quirky, and tough course. Course record to be established.
- The Course -
7.4 miles, featuring 3.5 miles of smooth, mostly flat pavement, 1.4 miles of a hard packed dirt road to a paved finish on the top of Mount 'A'. Mount 'A' features a 0.7 mile climb with an average gradient of 10%, with sections at 12%-14%.

Interesting. very interesting...0.7 mile vetical? That's 3696 feet, pretty farking impressive. Hmmm. A little fun the weekend before Mt. Washington perhaps? We'll see. Toddski, does this race fill up quickly or can I decide at last minute?

I'm not sure if registration fills up quickly BG, I'm sure you could wait till the last minute. This is the first year for this event, hence "course record to be established." It will be tough.. UP..UP..UP, I don't think there are any downhill sections on the course and the DIRT ROAD climb will be interesting with those skinny tires! I'm not sure I have the lungs or legs for this type of race, probably I'll just heckle the racers from my mountain bike and spray my water bottle at them.
Maybe I'll enter the TT, but I need to start riding my road bike more. I'm just too laid back to be competitive in a race... that is unless I hear that "eye of the tiger" song.
I'll post some updates for you after I talk to the guys organizing this event.
Later,
Toddski

cross bike with big slicks might work nice, but a standard road bike set up I think is the best bet.
After watching the Tour, I’m all pumped up to do this TT now! I would really appreciate it if somebody could wear a moose helmet, blast a boat horn, pinch my butt with lobster and wave the Maine state flag for me on the last climb.
I’ve included an announcement below in case anybody would like to race or help out on the course.
"Hi-
On Sunday, August 15, South Berwick is hosting the first Mt A Time Trial- a road race time trial running from South Berwick to the top of Mt A (coming across on Mountain Road).
We are looking for participants (mountain bikers are welcome too) and also need marshalls (for the intersections).
The race starts at 8:00 and will probaly be done by 10:30 so marshall duties would run from 7:00 to 10:00 or 11:00 (perfect timing to head out on that Mt. A mountain bike ride and we can even put you up near the mountain).
If you want to race, you can find information at www.easterntrail.org <http://www.easterntrail.org> under their calendar section.
If you can be a marshall please contact me. I can be reached at arosencrantz@oakpoint.com or 207-384-4791. (or tell Bob Tutwiler).
Thanks alot!
Anita Rosencrantz"
