Living here in the hills of NH what should my singlespeed drivetrain consist of. I know nothing about singlespeeds and have now bought a frame to do an SS build with.

32/18
Salsa ring in the front, steel Chris King in the back. 8speed sram chain is fine.

what kind of hubs do you want? discs?

Todd is dead on, IMHO. 32:18 is a very good ratio for the tight twisty with some short grunts. If you are doing a ton of climbing, like if you were at the Kingdom Trails for instance, you could run a 32:20. I know that's what the folks up there run.

If you are running a true SS frame w/ slotted horizontal dropouts I highly suggest running BMX chain adjusters to prevent the axle from moving in the drops. If you torque it, it will, regardless of how tight the nuts are on the axle.

Todd, yes I want to run disks. The frame is not an SS specific frame, it is one of the Fetish frames that have been on e-bay lately. Thanks for the info. Todd, what hubs do you have in mind?
