I was up in the area two weeks ago for some hiking...the ground was either really dry or REALLY REALLY MUDDY.

I was wondering if anyone has been out recently and can give has an idea if mud season is still in full swing..or is there a chance of some off-road riding this week.

I drove through there today. (4/26) There's still a little bit of snow in the woods up at the top of the Upper Nan. The middle and lower sections might be OK, with some hike-a-bike sections. Call the Red Jersey, or the Bike Shop and see if they have been out. You might do better in N. Conway near Echo Lake or Whittaker Woods.

I headed up for a couple of days, and found the riding to be in great shape!

For the most part, the stuff on the Kanc is dry and was a bunch of fun to ride. There were puddles and such, but nothing to worry about.

The Conway area was excellent, too...no real water to worry about...the re-route of the mineral site is in excellent shape as is all of the trails!

That's good to hear. I'll be riding somewhere in that area Memorial weekend, and look forward to the new bog bridges. ;D Did you go up onto Whitehorse? ???

The middle Nan was good fun...careful around the bog bridge....be on the look out for the low hanging branches...one might hit you in the head and knock you into the mud ;)...but getting muddy is pretty cool, too!

I did the Owls head climb.....look out for momma bear and her two cubs..I was glad to have on my bear bell. They damn near gave me a heart attack. They couldn't have been more than 15 feet off of the trail...I hear crashing, take a look and YIKES! I was happy they ran THE OTHER direction!

No...I didn't get up over Whitehorse....though that was on my mind....got too distracted with other cool trails and was led astray....I'll get up there next time for sure!
