Skills Series 2004

A Greater Boston/North Shore NEMBA Joint Venture
Clinic #1 May 6, 6pm, Middlesex Fells Sheepfold

The North Shore and Greater Boston Chapters of the New England Mountain Bike Assoc. invite you to attend the Skills Series 2004. Members Derrick Click and William Piotte will be holding a series of mountain bike skills clinics in parks north of Boston beginning in May. There is no cost to attend and previous MTB experience is not required. All we ask is that you bring a working bicycle and a helmet. We don't go far or fast, we just have fun.

The first clinic in the series takes place at the Middlesex Fells Reservation in one week. Thursday evening May 6. We will be meeting at the Sheepfold and the clinic starts at 6pm. Participants are encouraged to arrive early as parking at the Fells is limited.

The Agenda,

Introductions. You already know your name but let the rest of us know what it is.

Know your bike. Brief bike type comparisons and definitions so we all speak the same language.

Rider position. Seat height, brake/shifter placement, Face front, hands and feet stay behind the bar(see braking).

Balance drills. Riding around cones and falling slow. Track stands, bill showing off

Braking. The front brake is your friend. More so when we disconnect the back when your not looking.

Group ride. Once around the bike loop, or as far as we get before darkness sets in.

Rain will postpone. Updates will be posted to the North Shore and Greater Boston E-mail lists as well as the Massachusetts ride board on the Nemba Forums. Questions? skills@gbnemba.org

It's ok to just show up, or to say your coming and blow it off. I am just looking to get an estimated attendence.
