This morning I got an email from, "info@nemba.org" with an attachment titled, "Stolen." and Luckily my Norton systemworks scanned it and detected it as a virus before I opened it. Anybody know what's up? Has this ever happend to anyone else here before?

I got the same thing this morning. Everybody on the NEMBA e-mail list is probably getting it. It's the netsky worm. You probably don't have anything to worry about since your anti-virus caught it. As for thos without anti-virus? Hopefully they won't be stupid enough to open the attachment.
You can find more info here:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.netsky.v@mm.html
(I tried to make it a hyperlink but this address seems to confuse the url tag and it comes out screwed up, so you'll have to copy and paste it into your address window)
Hopefully the NEMBA server hasn't been hit. Not sure who administers to it and what they are using for anti-virus protection.

We are looking into this and are taking it very seriously.
We know the IP address of the person who sent this and infiltrated our security system and are reporting it to the proper authorities. As of now, we don't know if this was malicious or part of the virus' propagation mechanism.
In the meantime, we are blocking all attachments and are looking into ways to make the system more secure.
Bummer.....

It seems like an intentional attack to me. The names of the attachment/email hint at a stolen bike or something (stolen, info). Though if you are trying to trick people into thinking that...why not call it stolen bike?
Anywho...go get 'em.
Lousy way to have to spend your time though :(

Hey!!!!!!!!
As far as I'm concerned that this virus could do more damage beyond anything that I had researched on in the past four years. I believe that this is a INTERNATIONAL virus but again we have no clue as to who would do this. This maybe as a form of revenge against the NEMBA group. I do like to nail the sob for doing this. I never got the message with the attachment but if anyone else gets this message I highly recommend to NOT open it inspite of the issue here. I'm just as pissed off as the next guy is of this news. >:(

Of course you can just switch to a Mac and not have to worry about any of these viruses nor any of the other many security issues that seem to plague the windoze platform. Let's not even get into the Micro$oft monopoly that is the root of most of these issues.
How 'bout a poll: do mountain bikers use Windows or Mac? And what OS (XP, 98, etc, OS10.1/.2./.3 or OS9)?

People that write viruses for a living should be drawn, quartered and shot. I can't believe that they have nothing better to do than to write malicious programs to damage other people's computers and data.
I personally didn't get the virus, because I'm not on the NEMBA e-mail list. Thanks for the heads-up none the less.

I haven't used a microsoft product for a long time. MAC is better, but not any good either. www.redhat.com or fedora.redhat.com Mandrake10 is elite too.

This is what I did find out for all you computer users.
It does NOT make a damn bit if difference of what you have for a computer just the matter of the fact is that there are many types of viruses from 1000 to over 20,000 types of viruses. Still though we all should consider the fact that some Jack Ass made this virus to attack NEMBA!!!!!!!!! >:( As I do see that we should either cut their hands off or a better way to put it is to have them shot dead as a nail!!!!!!!!!!! ;D But always remember that we should always expect the unexpected!!!!!! If anyone who would like to give me any feed back please by all means do so!!! I would like to hear from you. :)
