OK, put it in your calendars, we're planning this year's big White Mountains Mtb Camping Weekend for August 28-29...

(It's the only weekend without a major conflict - geez they are few and far between!)

Sound good?
Who's in? ;D

OK, to dispel any rumors, this weekend is on and I am in.

Lots of details left to resolve, but I promise to get started RIGHT AFTER WHISTLER.

There will be fire this year.

I'll be there for at least one of the two days. Where can I buy tires that shoot out flames like that?

Any other Forum people signed up for this? Should we make name tags with (oversized) avatars?

I'm hoping to get up there Sunday a.m. to ride with the late risers club. I may even try the 'midnight express' again hopefully without any outback taxi rides......

Does anyone have space on their campsite? I tried to reserve a site but there are none available.

I'm sure there will be room for you. Actually, I don't have a site either, but I'm going to crash someone's party anyway. ;D

I dont have a site either. But i do have moderate skill with a campfire and charcoal grill.
I couldnt tell from the evite. Is the cookout saturday night bring your own food? I'm still not able to commit but if i can find a site to squat at, i am willing to cook.

And if you are psssing anywhere near Billerica and have a vehicle that will tow 3800lbs on a 2"ball with an electric brake control and your site is at least 30' clear and you can stand to sleep within 20' of a serious snorer. Then i could make your stay very confortable. But thats a long shot i know.

Radair -- thanks for the tip, but I'm a little out of practice. I don't think I've crashed a party since the late 70s. Bill, sorry -- I traded the Ford Expedition with the tow package for a Honda Element. Can't help you out with the land yacht.

Hey guys!

Anyone who PM'ed me should have already received an evite, and you can see where we are all camping. If you didn't receive an evite, let me know! (PLEASE PM YOUR FULL NAME AND EMAIL ADDRESS)

Also, if you get there early enough on Friday, the first-come-first-served sites are right next to party central (site #17)

See you soon!

I'm with Rob.....crashing a site adds such a "festival" atmosphere! Just think of who you might get to know better than you want to!

For those who aren't into bumming a space...there is a another forest service campground directly across the knac from the covered bridge campground. Can't be more than 200 yards away. It is called "blackberry crossing". The entire campground is on a first come basis.....no reservable sites. If any of those that don't have spaces head over there either friday pm or sat am.....head into the field, I think it is sites 17-21...grab a couple sites. There is plenty of parking and the filed can accomodate many sleeping bags.

Hey, this is another spot wher the avatar nametags would come in handy!

Thanks for the info, John!

We are looking for more ride leaders. We are starting to get a little bit bigger turnout than expected! So the more leaders we have the better. Let me know...!

Somewhat unrelated but actually not.....I'm in the market for a used RV, about 30 footer, or big enough for a family of four and all the bike gear etc. I was lookin at a Ford Toga Arrow 1984 (and I may even show up in it). Anyone have advice/info about this or used RV's in general? Anyone selling one? I'm looking to spend less than 10k on my rolling vacationmobile.
I guess I'm turning over a new leaf, as I mature(not get older)
Name that tune:
I used to laugh about, all the people that were hangin out
( in their RV's), now I don't laugh so loud, now I don't seem so proud, after having to be sleeeeping, on the hard groounnd..... ::)

....I couldnt tell from the evite. Is the cookout saturday night bring your own food? ....

Bill, yes, this is BYO food & beverages.

.....you can stand to sleep within 20' of a serious snorer....

If Bill's coming, please be sure to bring extra tent stakes and tie-down ropes. The snoring will keep the bears at bay anyway.

This weekend was a lot of fun. A great group of people to spend time with while camping & riding. Thanks Z for organizing the event. On Sunday, a group of about 17 of us headed out of Cranmore, up the Red Tail Trail to the summit of Black Cap. Here is a group photo at the peak...

Thanks for the photo, Kirk! Maybe you can post a few more.

What a blast last weekend! Thanks especially to everyone that led rides - we had four groups Saturday and two groups Sunday, and covered all sorts of terrain.

The hammerhead ride did *57* miles Saturday! (And those are all technical hilly white mountain miles, of course.) Our group, in comparison, was a bit more relaxed. Once Gleece had his mechanical and turned around, that is. We had every intention of making it a relatively fast, "few stops" ride, but with the heat and humidity, those water holes sure did look good! And the raspberries... and the water at the campground, just a few river crossings away... a little snack here... another dip there... nope, no stops! ;D

We hope to get a few more photos up soon. Our "staff photographer" (Tim) has suddenly been laid up in the hospital (no relation to the weekend's festivites) so unfortunately it may be a little while before we get more photos online.

OK, these just in, some photos from RagerTim! Sorry for the delay, but I think he has a good excuse :) what with being laid up with the broken leg and all!

Here is one of Becky cleaning a really technical section. A few of us finally made it, but it took a few tries...

Nice pics Z, the up coming vacation left me without my ride for that weekend looks like a good time.
