Well now that I'm some what healthy. I have been going to the gym for about 3 weeks. I have a nice gym in my house, but because I was laid up for so long I needed some motivation. So I signed up at the local gym(3 month membership) to get myself started. I have been lifting for most of my adult life, but as Mtn biking became my new love ,I had to change how I trained. Instead of doing a routine that breaks up into body parts and lifting heavy weights.I have been doing circut training. 2 twice a week .My routine goes like this.

Bench press day1/ incline press day 2. 15 reps 95-205 lbs

Deadlifts day1/Stiff leg Deadlifts day 2 15 reps 135-225 lbs

Military press day1/Upright rows day 2 10 reps 95- 135 lbs

Lat pull downs day 1/Pull ups day 2 15 reps weight varys with pull downs

Tricep push downs day1/Nose breakers day 2 15 reps 50-100 lbs

Strait bar curl day1/Dumbbell curls day 2 15 reps 25-85 lbs

Steep incline sit ups 15 reps..

I do one circut for a warm up( light weight). Than 3 circuts their after progressively adding weight each circut.

Now I didn't post this to show off my physical abilitys, but If you are pressed for time, this routine works well.It only takes 45 minutes to hour for the workout. I try to do it Mondays and Thursdays and on Saturdays I try to do push ups and sit ups.
Not only does it help you with strengh ,but its also a good cardio work out. Before I fell and broke my ankle like a knuckle head.I was doing this routine and riding every day I could. AT 35 I was in the best over all shape of my life. So if your short on time. This routine will work. Yea I know I must be bored out of my mind to write this up,but I do love spamming!.lol

I hear ya dud, it's all about keeping off the gut. I have to kill myself to stay at 180 with all the garbage I eat. I'm like a frickn dumpsta. I can't do weights, they just bore the hell out of me. My usual routine is 100 pushups, morning, lunch, evening. Lunch I do dumbell curls, 100 each arm with 25lbs as well as the pushups. I do ab-roller situps 50 per position (L and R obliques) (50 with knees elevated) (50 regular) and intead of rushing them, I hold each for 2 seconds. Takes about 15 minutes to do those and they are sooooooooooooooo boring. As well as that, I've been doing 5 4 1/2 minute miles on the nordic track at incline 30 deg, prior to the MRI I got last Sunday and I'm awaiting results, but that wont stop me, well not yet.
Believe me, I hate exercize but when I got on the bike last weekend at LSF and did about 2.5 to 3 hours I was amazed that I could ride that long. Last year I would have lasted a 1/2 hour (seeing that I haven't ridden in 2 months)
I was spent though :-\

Keep off the gut man.

I mostly start with a hearty sesson at the Chinese buffet for lunch, then ride after work and then eat something fatty and gluttinous and drink a TON of beer. Mind you, I can't keep up that rigerous a training schedule every day. It's usually only three or four times a week ;)

BTW, today is an on day.

Funny thing is that with all that exercize, you'd still kick both our asses when riding. Nothing beats the bike for exercize.
