It was soooo nice to get out and ride Tues night, dry trail, clear starry sky, not too cold. Looks like it will be a week at least before things dry out again. Boo hoo hoo! :'( Good news is the spring forward!!! so when we can start riding again it will be light. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

We've had 7 1/2 inches of rain here in Newbury in the last 24 hours with a ton more to come. I don't think there will be a problem with a drought. Bummer. Prayers answered with a "No" again.

All this rain raises the opportunity to identify and document many wet problem areas on your favorite local trails. Perhaps a scheduled "walk" as opposed to ride with key chapter members to locate and possibly remedy some drainage issues while they are visable would be appropriate. I find (with permission of the landowner/manager) that using a shovel as a "walking stick" , many smaller drainage concerns can easily be remedied before they grow. Walking through also gives a new perspective to the trails and surrounding areas and affords you the opportunity to be on your favorite trails even when they are not really rideable. Any ideas on this?

Yes the water problems should be evident at this point. I woke to a coating of snow this morning.

Looks like a couple more weeks on the road bike after this deluge. :'( I can't believe the flooding and not just in the usual wet spots.
I got plenty of exercise pumping the water out of my basement last night though...boo f'ing hoo :'( :'( :'(

Now they predict moderate to heavy snow for my area. I gotta stock up on wood and batteries, in the '98 ice storm my road had no power for 3 weeks. Having plenty of neighbors would have helped get the power companies here quicker, I think i'll just make sure i'm stocked up and keep it the way it is. ;)

Guess I will have to be a roadie nerd this weekend.
Splat needs to get his ass out into Vietnam with a hair dryer and get to work.

What do mean???
This weather is great!
It forces me to make some good progress on the bathroom project. Plus I can't bike until after my knee surgery on the 12th.
I don't feel like I'm missing all the good times.
Sorry, but no complaints here. ;)

Sorry to hear about that misery Evil. That was me 2 years ago. Back then I dug a hole in my basement and installed a sump pump. Flooding is a thing of the past since then. Getting flooded is the pitts! Fix it so it never happens again.

I spent four hours this afternoon hoeing out mud holes, picking up trash, and fiddling with ATV barriers. The snow started maybe a half hour ago, soggy wet stuff.
Meeting Wednesday with people at local Army base in regards legitimatizing trail usage there - wish me luck!
