Thanks to a trade of some stuff with Splat - My old Psylo for a rigid fork, a used trainer and some used roadie handlebars, stem and brake levers I was able to replace the POS Manitou Six fork on my Marin Nail Trail with a cool silver cro-mo Marin rigid fork tonight.

The fork installed real easy and I am able to run a 2.5 WTB Weirwolf up front with room to spare on it.

Took off the old fork, installed the rigid fork, adjusted the v-brakes properly and took her out for a quick little spin (would have been longer but it's raining).

Wow - it's like I have a new bike almost. I'm diggin it! No more annoying fork bob that I got from the Manipoo Six.....just solid quick responsive steering! I like it.

Next step is to single speed this beeotch! I'm psyched!

Thanks Splat!

looks cool. I'm thinking of getting rid of the (ugly) rock shox indy fork on my hookoo and also going rigid. bike is primarily used for street riding.

Now, just get rid of those ugly shifters, derailluers and gears, and you'll be really styling.

Since 9/03 (I think) I've been riding a rigid singlespeed. I rode my geared bike with a Z3 on it 2x's in that same time. One time because it was icy and I was riding with studs (homemade) and I feared a flat with my SISS. I don't think I would have been able to keep traction with the ss either. I just can't ride it anymore. The steering is so true and the control is just unbeatable. I had a threaded Marin Rockstar on my first singlespeed. I still have the frame and fork in the basement if anyone needs one. I have no interest in riding the other bike with gears and sus fork.

It's a strange world we live in these days.
