View Full Version : Free Beer & Easy Women

Sorry no free beer, or easy women for that matter. I just wanted people to read my post so I figured a attention grabbing subject would be best. There was actually a college bar band named "free beer" years ago but that is another story for another day.

It seems that the forum has gotten pretty stale. Are we all out of stories? Have the best personalities moved on? Is there just so much quality you can post before the average post becomes a smiley or a one-word response (like many of the other forums)? I am going to do my best to work less and post more interesting content. I challenge you to do the same.

Game on.

OK. You sucked me in. But it was the promise of the free beer, NOT the easy women ;D.

I think that the general apathy on the forum is indicative of the current state of riding. I know that I am having a tough time finding people who want to go out and ride on a regular basis. I lost one of my riding buddies to Silicon Valley, and probably another to a long-lingering knee injury. This means I'm going to have to try to keep up with PK, and Couch most of the season - OOPH!

WHERE IS EVERYBODY????? Any women out there looking to hook up to ride on a regular (this means all conditions save downpours) basis?????

Oh - and AA - I want my free beer cheap and watery ;).

The problem is Winter Riding season is over and Real Riding Season hasn't started yet. It's Whining season - not cold enough to ride on ice/snow; too cold to dry up the trails. No one wants to post just to whine (except Knucklebuster ;)). The closest I got to riding the last week was two rides on the bike path and a spin class. Who can get excited about that? Ha! I just whined without even trying. No more posts til I ride again. >:(

I agree that the board is a little stale. We could always resort to ranting about politics, SUVS, Janet's boob etc. like they do on the Dirt Rag board or the Bikemag board. But then we'd probably all end up hating each other and Nembafest would become some kind of battle royale ala Bruce Lee movies. We could all choose our fighting styles and duke it out in some randomly drawn order on a secret island somewhere in Boston Harbor. PK would have to judge the competition from an ornately decorated throne and declare the winners and losers. Couching Tiger already has a leg up on all of us based on his name alone. Whatever happens I'm all for working less and posting more!

i onwder if the roadie forums are decent right now. seeing how the roads are mostly dry, yet still sandy. course then there's always urban riding in boston if you don't want to commit yourself to skinnies just yet. the thought of a road bike to ride suring times liek these has been cycling through my head alot lately. debating to A) buy a new specialized bighit expert B) buy a trek 5200 and go cruising around (assuming trek OK's the carbon frame for a 250lb rider) C) rebuild up my komodo with superduty parts, ride urban, break frame then replace or D) just keep going to hyde park skatepark and riding around on my bmx bike or E) put the hookworms on my idrive and use it for light urban-cruzing

and no more of these misleading titles. they're such a letdown

Well, I've been good this Winter. No bitching about the weather. Positive attitude. Maintaining a stealth 180 lbs @ 17% BF. I'll be down to my 170 when I start sweatin on the bike. Endless miles on the nordic track, endless situps and pushups. I'm ready to go. I'm done bitching about the weather though. When it gets good, I'll ride. Till then, I'm just happy knowing I got my new frame on the way and I'll be all hooked up come Spring (if we have one) if not, Summer.

Weather is not a valid excuse. Ride the MTB on the street. Ride the road bike on a frozen lake. Ride any bike down the corridors in the office. Just ride.

That said, somebody must have trail projects they're firing up for. Tell us about 'em. We're scouting a seven mile ridgeline trail up here in the frozen north, walking and sometimes biking prospective routes, contacting landowners, etc.

I will always fall for that line!
I have yet to find those two items in the same place. ;D

Not to worry...
In a couple weeks there'll be so much posting it will be hard to get in a word edgewise.

I was thinking of posting about my 15 minute ride on the stationary bike today at lunch...but I did not think that was very impressive. Still dealing with the knee boo boo.

On a more positive note...
The Splatster has continue our work on blazing some new trails for the lunchtime ride. He's making good use of the downtime.

It won't be long now. ;)

Ya, this topic line sucked me in also. But watery beer, Mrs Couch?! Make mine a Harpoon IPA, please.

It's a slow time on MTBR also, maybe just the wrong time of year. I know I'm buried in work, but would normally be all for less work & more play. Still too much snow in the frozen north.

Miller Lite!

I never have been able to appreciate the "micro brews" that have become so popular. I am a light beer guy, and proud of it.

You might want to try some different micro breweries. The Albany Pump station makes 8 different types including a tasty "Quakenbush Blonde" that is a light beer. For $6 you can get the sampler that has 3oz of each. Best one IMO, is their "Kick Ass Brown". ;D

If little 'ole Albany NY has such fine products, surely a big city like the Boston area will have similar products. Yes it costs more, but it's more of a treat once in a while. 8)

Bush Lite?!? Gack! The occasional Sleeman's I'm willing to overlook (or attribute to misplaced National pride), but B-Light (or "BLight as we refer to it) should only be drunk by high-school kids out in the woods or college students at the end of the semester when the $$ are running low.

At least plunge for the full-on Budweiser, or better yet, PBR! Besides, Ive seen you with better beer than that, in fact I've never seen you with that Busch swill! Unless that's what you've been packin' in the Camelback! :)

I like light beer I cannot lie
If I drink micro brew I want to cry
It tastes like crap, all strong and bitter
I'd rather have a mouthfull of kitty litter
Everyone says I have no taste
I think micro brews are a big waste
I like good food and really strong coffee
I'd say my tastes are really quite lofty
To some my beverage choice is a "blight"
Just give me a case of Miller Lite!
