Hoping to ride offroad this weekend, but am curious about trail conditions. Provided it does not rain/snow this afternoon, are there any trails in reasonable condition?

Don't know where you're thinking of riding in MA... but the all trails just west of Boston are really sloppy. I was doing some blowdown removal in Acton, and it's a mix of ice and mud.

I did a road ride past Great Brook Farm SP and it looks really swampy.

I'm riding road this weekend.

Saw, have seen, multiple times, the "soft riding" article. In fact, if I use the "ride on my lawn" technique, then I would be good to go. My Boston lawn is fairly firm. Any reports from the South Shore?

I was hiking in the Middlesex Fells scoping out the work sites for this years maintenance. The trails are still soft and will be even more so with the recent snow. I was very pleased to notice almost no bikes in there and very few tire tracks. I have been staying on the road bike until the trails firm up.

Were the hikers tearing up the soft trails? ;)

I am suffering a major weather riding depression right now. Last night, for the first time this off-season, I got on the trainer only to find myself getting off 10 minutes later. Sigh. Motivation is lacking right now.

Trainers suck.
I have been doing a lot of road lately but that gets dull. This last Sunday Mr. Pinchy and I did an urban ride into Boston and hit all the stairways, walls and urban rock gardens around Tufts, Harvard and Government Center. I am longing to hit the trails too but there is lots to do if you get creative.
