The Cake discussion got me thinking. What are some of the best bike names you've heard (seen)?

A good bike name should sound good when you use it in sentence. I love my IF, but "I'm riding the Special today" doesn't have much of a ring to it. Likewise with the Superlight.

My favorite is the Iguana (defunct) by Giant (defunct?). "I'm riding my Giant Iguana" definitely has some oomph :D I'm happy with my SL, but I would like a cake just so I could say "I took the cake out for a spin" or "I've got a Cake." (mmm cake...)

Ibis used to have fun names like hak-a-lugi for their cross bike (naturally it was a green bike)

Hasn't this thread been done before? Next thing you know somebody is going to start talking about building a solid gold bike or something. ;)

What about unique names? Does anybody call their bike Thor or princess or anything like that.

Transition Bikes new hardtail is called the Trail-or-Park??? ::)

When I hear it I can't help but think Trail-or-Trash and envision a mildly obese drunk guy with a Camel clamped between his teeth yelling obscenities at no one in particular.

Their freeride frame is called the Dirtbag - which also matches up well with your vision above IF! ;D

Their 4" rig is called a Preston - which makes me think of some high browed kid - a divergence from their other bike names I guess.

As for this thread being done once - I think it has and I may have even started it way back when I held the nickname of McAskalot! ;D

My brother has a road bike called Skittles. It's a rainbow colored Lemond. It was named by a bunch of punk kids that screamed Skittles at him when they saw him.

His mountain bike is Jack Straw. He UPSed it to Vail for a riding vacation but the bike store got dyslexic with the zip and it kept going to Wichita. The bike arrived 7 days late. Jack Straw from Wichita cut his buddy down ... Too bad about Jerry's health.

This just goes to show me that I need to check into this forum more!!! Anyway Big old hunk of an I-drive is called Gretyl, the petite Cannondale F700 is Penelope either one sounds good in a sentence:

"Gretyl and Penelope are coverred in mud, I need to spray them down with a hose"

"I rode Gretyl hard in the woods today. Tomorrow I am riding penelope all day!"
