Looking for somewhere I can ride my bike instead of push it. Anyone know how Arcadia is? Ice is good! Soft, wet, slushy snow is bad.
Thanks,

I rode Thursday night 2/12/04. The trails that have been used are shear ice. You have to stay in the tracks that are there from 4-wheelers, hunter, other bikes, etc. We did about 5 miles. There were some trails that we rode that hadn't been used yet and the going was tough (2-3 inch crusty stuff that you sunk through)
If you have studs, it is fun. If no studs --> Stay home or you're not going anywhere - too much ice.

Went out on the south side of Arcadia saturday. Conditions weren't bad, there is still anywhere from less than an inch to 4 inches of snow. Mostly undisturbed (I only saw about 3 or 4 other sets of tracks-some trails have none). There is a fair amount of ice also. Overall it was pretty good, BUT QUITE A WORKOUT!!!

Rode on the south and north side on Sunday and had quite the experience.
Most of the trails I tried had been well used and for the most part had a ribbon of ice running down the middle.I was riding without spikes and while I never went down it was very tricky staying in a straight line. Most trails also had an inch or so of crunchy snow on them. All double tracks were about the same. All of the trails I tried that hadn't been used still had several inches of crunchy snow on them and were not rideable without alot of pushing.
Austin Farm Road and Frosty Hollow Road were ice free for the most part but still frozen underneath. Honestly I had a great time and I knew going in that the ice would be tough so I just relaxed and rode conservatively. Maybe next year will have to invest in some tires.
Maybe more snow this Wednesday, otherwise normal temps. so we won't be getting rid of the ice/snow anytime soon.
