How come on TV they never have to deal with the renovation problems that real contractors face every day.
I'd like to see how Rich Trethewy or Bob Villa deals with this.

Sheesh....thanks for that glimpse into your work day there Bill.
The American public is just not ready for that much reality.
We're more into make believe reality.

That would be called an insurance job (torch the whole damned house and rebuild when the settlement check comes in).

I saw that kind of work at the end the Mass Pike for about 5 years. Are these guys just off the Big Dig by chance?

Bill, so much for the *new* floor joists!! Plumbers and carpenters should switch jobs for a month to see what they put each other through...your pictures remind me of a renovation I was P.M. on years ago - a two year renovation of the Copley Plaza Hotel (80+ year old building that definitly fell into the catagory of "this old house")

What a nightmare. I'm suprised people don't get killed. Either from the bacteria in that toilet, or all those I beams and jack supports. oi yoi yoi. I used to do fire restoration. That was fun. We use to find so much stuff left over. It was basically when we showed up, throw everything out. My boss use to rifle through peoples dressers and night stands. I wont even tell you the stuff we use to find. :o
That was a fun job. Where else can you go in with a sledgehammer and just destroy everything? ;D
Only problem was it was only $10/hr
Otherwise, I'd still be doing it.
