If any one is looking for a team member I'm putting the feelers out. I'm an experienced racer. I've enough gear for full support. sounds like fun. E mail - mmmueller@sbcglobal.net

I'll vouch that it's an awesome race. Matt, you should do it solo. You seem nuts enough to do it.

Hey Now Kevin. I'm really leaning that way. My friend Dave Galletier Does well solo. He says even if you crap out , you'll last at least 10 to 12 hrs. Thats still a tough ride.

Anybody got any tricks info they would like to share about these 24 hour races? I've got a chance to do one with a 4-5 man group this year. I'm an expert cross country racer, so long races/rides and darkness don't really bother me.

Does anyone in a team or something want to donate someone to help maintain my bike... it's rather hard when you are in theory riding for 24 hrs straight...

hold on to your hats , this may be radical, or just stupid.
How about "Full Solo Self Support" . No help at all. Just you the night and lots of chores. Of course, you won't win.
If you finish though, you'll have set the bar higher on the torture scale. Then again, if it was a rule, We'd all be able to beat up on Tinker.
Arrive solo ride solo take home hot babe and phat check!
can you feel It?

Matt, do a solo race and say that again. I was lucky that my Santa Cruz did not suffer and I could ride it the entire time. But if my deraileur broke at 3 am, I don't think I could manage it that well...

Matt
one of my team mates in the CT. series also did a solo 24 hours... he is a strong guy and he said it was extermely tough.. especially with the rain/mud
To make it more challenging, maybe you should try it on the singlespeed <G>

All kidding aside. I'm bringing everything I own. I'll pray the Santa Cruz can last that long , hell Me too. Any one who's done this impresses me. I can't wait to test my doughnuts, and Bud beer nutrition regimine. MMMMMMMM doughnuts.

I can safely say that the Santa Cruz will last...
Doughnuts? Tinker says all he eats is grapes, that diet will obviously work better for everyone else.

I found that you should never carry a camelback (It's too much weight on your back for such a long time, and you can just get a new bottle every hour).
You should switch from drink mix to plain water every lap, the drink mix will make you sick after a while.
You should drink well over a gallon of water a day for the 3 days before the race.
Rest for 8-15 minutes every lap, even after the first lap.
Eat a banana every lap to help reduce cramping.
Someone told me to drink Maple Syrup, but I have not personally tried this.
Think of every lap as a slow, monday ride. I made the mistake of going slightly hard on the first lap. Sure, I was pulling ahead, but my body suffered later.
I have some more tips, maybe I will make a formal thread about it later.

Kewl,
Send me the information, place, date, # of people in the group, special dietary requirements, vegans?
I will check if it is possible in my bizzare family schedule.
I assume there is camping allowed. I need around 40'x20' for the mothership and kitchen.

Bill,
This is very kind of you. Jollytime is a vegetarian.
We have a campsite reserved - #30 - not sure how big they are though.

The good folks at 24Hrs of Adrenaline are going to send me details soon about a team promo. Each team that registers using a certain code number will have $50 donated to NEMBA!
I hope to get the details later today.

Haven't done any of these events, but the 24 hours of Great Glen is a good time, great course. (Aug. 14-15, 2004)
Located at the base of Mt. Washington!!!
Would be great to have something similiar to what Adrenaline
series is doing.
If you are interested, go to:
http://www.24hoursofgreatglen.com
If your wife doesn't ride, she can go shopping at the North Conway outlets. (this may deter some of us!!)
