MDC closes BH and Lynn woods from 1/1 until 4/15 so riders won't erode the earth during thaw conditions. I rode there saturday. 50% of tge trails has too much snow to make any progress. The south facing trails were bare. Stop and go. Made me alter my favorite routes. More extended climbing than anywhere in the Boston area. Don't go looking there for singletrack. Mostly doubletrack and fireroad. Get a map. Trails are well marked. You'll never be lost.

bluehills is my local spot. haven't been there recently. definitely hilly. really great. i think the markers from bluehills mtb day might still be up, if so, follow the white arrows (i think) for the advanced loop which is wicked fun, then do the intermediate after. for a nice descent, coon hollow at the top of the great blue hill (ski area) is fun. really rocky, bunch of little rock gardens, but rideable. there's not much for beginner trails, but plenty for more advanced, especially behind the state police building. also stuff out near buck hill is nice.
