How's the snow cover in the greater Boston area? Is there any place close to the 495 / 95 or 95 / 128 area (within 30 minutes) that is rideable? I'm passing through the area Wednesday on the way to Maine, and am looking for a place to ride.
Splat: your pics of 'Nam didn't show a whole lot of snow. Is there still some in the woods? Any chance Hopkington or Upton is rideable? ???

I don't have studded tires. :(
Probably going to be around noon. Do you have the day off, or can do a lunch-time ride? Nam would be a nice option! ;)

Looks like rain, but that never stopped you guys.
My old front shifter wont work with the new bike and i am waiting for a new one. But it would'nt be the first Christmas eve ride with splat where i had less then full gearing.
Keep me in the loop. I am still looking for that first ride on the new bike, and first ride in a month. Will there be lots of large trees and rocks in the middle of the trail? Its the only way i can catch up.

I'm going to decline. I'm so sick of the rain this year. >:(
I might be able to ride Sunday on the way home, but it wouldn't be until 12:30-1:00 pm. It's supposed to be cooler, but no rain.

I could do a Sunday ride at Harold Parker in the afternoon.
495s to 114e in lawrence to 125n.
much less then 30 min off 495.
Should this be moved to the ride board?

Any chance "afternoon" would be around 1:00 pm? ???
Posting it in the ride section might be a good idea. Maybe we can get a bunch of people to show up.

I know a few NH-rites who would be interested in this ride.
With the warm temps & rain, studs probably won't be needed.

Sounds good to me. Harold Parker is one of the places in the area I haven't ridden, but want to. How does a 1:00pm start sound? ???

I'm in.
I will be on 1 ring only and havent riden since october and have eaten way too much candy and pastry this season. There i got all my excuses out before the ride.
1pm is good for me. Lets park at the 1st big lot on the left after the State Police barracks.
From Maine come down 495 through lawrence. Take 114 east to 125 north. its a ways down 125 ayuhh but you eventually come to one of those new fangled electric traffic lights. Take a left there through the park entrance.
From Naashoeway, North on 495, south on 93, just follow the flow of French Canadian imigrant drywall tradesman, turn off on 125 north. Third light is the state police barracks, go right into the park. This is MA so dont look for the park entrance toll booth, just cruise on down to the 1st big lot on the left.
see you then

I mentioned this was going to be a slow ride, right?
Too many cookies and no riding since october, right?
New bike is not finished, needs front shifter, only riding on the granny ring, right?
I just want to be sure there are no expectations. Today i tried riding with splat at the NAM and it wasn't good. I had to be escorted back to the truck after 1/2 hour. Dizzy, winded, unable to stand, never mind ride. I stopped at Great Brook farm to try an easier ride and did ok for an hour. So its a medium mosey for me but you all are welcome to come along.
Also, i have not ridden the trails at Harold Parker and have no idea how much snow and ice remains on the trails. It may be horrible, it may be nice.
I will be there and ready to ride at 1pm (or thereabouts)
Patient and adventurous souls are encouraged to attend.

No worries Bill. My SO and I will be there and we both know the trails, so either of us could take over leading duties. I'm injured (skiing is an inherently dangerous sport...) and not fast to start with, so there'e no chance of a hammerfest breaking out.

No worries Bill
Too many cookies (and chocolates & cake & prime rib)
Ditto.
It is a clear sunny day, with mild temps, and it will be good just to get out and ride. :)
