skimming through an old "improve your biking skills" type book that one of my teachers had in his bookshelf, i came upon an intersting reccomendation. it reccomends to drill an extra valve hole in teh rim and run an etra tube in the tire. inflate one. when that one gets a hole in it, just pump up the extra one. this seemed like a stupid reccomendation to me cause remnants of the cause of the flat problems (plus i don't get many flats cause mr.tuffy's and i don't run low pressure). anybody ever heard of this beofore? it seemed kinda odd. the book was copyrighted in 1991

i had the bright idea once of taking an old tube and cutting the center out with the stem. putting a new tube inside and using it like a tire liner. i just never did but i wonder if it would work. or would the gram counters have heart attacks from a redundant system

Two tubes is an old trick from the ISDE moto guys. Time is everything in an enduro, and the extra weight doesn't matter much on a motorcycle.
IMHO, it would add way to much rotating mass on a bicycle.
