So I'm building up a single speed....using my old bridgestone and making a fully rigid one....I've got an 18t cog, and the option for 32, 34 or 36 t chainrings...any advice on what chainring setup i should choose,...i've bene told that a 32/18 is a nice setup...anyone have any advice...thanks.

I have run both a 32x16 and a 32x18 and the 18tooth has been way better for overall riding. I spin out real fast on the road, but it's been great in the woods. My backup SS wheelset has a 32x17 setup and that is pretty nice as well. I'd say if you primarily ride somewhere with a lot of steep shorter climbs you can probably get away with the 36x18. But for longer climbs the 32x18 will be easier to turn over. Try out the different configurations until you can pull some long rides w/out your knees hurting, then you'll know you've found comfortable gearing - unless you like pain in which case run a 42x16 and drag your brakes!
