Hop-Up Ride Sat 12/6

Splat and I are planning to ride around Lake Whitehall (Hopkinton MA) and a big loop thru Upton State Forest on Saturday.

Scenic area, XC ride at an intermediate pace. Somewhere around 12-15 miles...3-4 hours.

Meeting at boat launch parking lot on rt 135 in Hopkinton at 9:30am.

I am planning on being there, weather permitting. 8) I've read conflicting weather reports. Some call for rain and snow, some call for cloudy skies.

Potential big problems for Friday & the weekend...a Nor'easter type low pressure system will move toward us with strong Arctic high pressure to the north...this scenario usually leads to significant snow...however, it's very early in the season & New England is bordered by 45-50 degrees ocean waters to the south & east which could potentially overwhelm & erode the cold air supply leading to rain or a messy mix...there still is the possibility that the entire system misses us to the south and east...stay tuned...

Hey guys, do we ride in the snow? Looks like there is a good chance of snow, but they are saying three inches tops here in the Hartford area, but less as you go north. Rain sucks, but snow I don't mind.

Those weathermen loved to get you all torqued up. I'm not tuned into them. In fact, I'm in complete denial at this point.

So..I'm still planning on riding at this point. Some flurries would make the ride even better. I agree freezing rain would not be much fun.

Of course, don't risk yourself on the roads. I figure it's 2" or less and snowing I'm going. 3-4" and snowing...forget it.
If it's light rain...going. Downpour...nope.

I wish just one weatherman would come out and say...
"Looks like some crappy weather is coming that will complete screw up our plans for the weekend. I'm just as pissed off as you folks. I'm really sorry to have to tell you good people this kinda bad news. It really blows being a weatherman, but it pays the bills."

Is that too much to ask? ::)

She had plans for tomorrow, so I was "allowed" to ride without her. ;D

Seriously, we tried to plan a ride like six times since the start of the season, and only got one ride in (not counting Vermont).
