I got a new GPS unit and have been having some fun mapping my rides. Here's Saturday's loop. Man, was it cold! Last Saturday we were riding in shorts and it was 70F. This weekend it was in the 20s and blowing hard (keep that Canadian air NORTH of the border, eh?)! Just over 10 miles, 2200' of climbing, done clockwise from the little spur at the top of the map.
By the time this ride was over I was riding a singlespeed, but at least I had brakes. Pedals would only clip in on one side due to the ice build-up.
Darn, can't get the image to attach.

Can you give a trail description? I've never ridden the White Mountians, but have always wanted to.
Was there much hike-a-bike? Some sections seem pretty steep!

No hike-a-bike required, it's all rideable. This route went up the Red Tail Trail to Black Cap's summit, down the Black Cap Connector to the powerlines, then back north through Cranmore ski area. There's a couple hundred yards of pavement winding through condo developments near the end, so that part is a bit tricky. All legal, though.

Which GPS, which mapping software? I just got a Garmin eTrex Vista and am having a devil of a time getting it to talk to DeLorme Topo USA 3.0 with the T3_GPS_Update patch.

I'm using a Garmin GPS V and use Maptech's Terrain Navigator USGS maps on CD-ROM. After recording the track, just connect the GPS to the computer, download track log & way points, and edit names.
It's really simple - I hadn't used a GPS for mapping in a few years, but was able to get this to work right off.

Thanks, I remember it was easy about a year ago once I figured it out, but I don't seem to be having much luck at present.
