Im wondering. Seeing its hunting season will we all need to wear our orange at the Nembafest? It'll look like a huge pumpkin patch if we do.

No hunting is allowed on the property where NEMBAfest is being held (Great Brook State Park). No need to wear orange.

As a side note I rode at Great Brook w/ my wife on Sat, the foliage should be at it's peak this weekend. I'll post some pics later.

Joke, right ;)

No hunting allowed in much of metro/suburban Boston. Also no hunting in the state park and isn't there no hunting in MA on Sundays anyhow?

Hunting is not allowed on Sundays in Massachusetts, that's for sure. Any other day, regardless of site, you should wear blaze orange. But you really only need to worry about the gun season for deer. Bird hunters and bow hunters have to be more sure of their targets to have any hope of success; they don't generally just blast away at sound or movement.

There is hunting in some State parks so don't hold out for that tip..

Bow season is 99% safe, but when the meat heads come out with their shotguns then put on the blaze Bells what ever. No bells during bow please. Thats a real sport wether you like hunting or not. It frustrating to have people running though with cow bells. Any chance they may have had is gone.

Kind of off topic, but ... its amazing how well camo works. I was out riding during bow season a couple of years ago. Three guys walk out of the woods in camo, it was like they appeared from nowhere. One second no one there, the next bango three guys.

Actually Couch i wasnt joking. I live in Rhode Island where we have to wear orange from the 2nd weekend in October till sometime in february. They hunt here on sundays so i thought maybe it was the same in Mass. Thanks for the photos and the answer to my question. I really didnt think they would let people hunt anywhere near an event like this. But i figured id ask. Thanks all

Nice shot of the rock jump! Here's one of me jumping off one of the rocks on Indian Hill. My friend Johnny is taking an easier line...

Great pictures of the kids on the teeter-totter. I especially liked the one of the girl with the training wheels on. She's going to kick some butt by the time she hits her teens!

Spat,

I remember hearing many "grown up's" saying how they would like to have gone through that little obsticle course but thought it was just for kids.

This year will be different.

Ok , i have to get back to my nail gun.

Susan on Tophet loop.......

Hey nice new lid on Susan!

I rode with her at the Roast and Ride and she lost her plastic top cap to her helmet.

Nice replacement lid. :)

Yes Susan got a nice silver Bell helmet (x-ray I think) after the roast and ride. She says it makes her ride much faster ;)

BTW Bill can you give us an idea of what you are building for the "skills" area

Imagine if you made the kids obstacle area big enough for adults. Include a balance beam 30' long narrowing from 8" to 1.5", cones for wheel placement drill, logs to jump over 4", 8", 12" more?, a measured braking area, 3 drops with ladder ramps 1', 2', 3', an exact replica of the heartbreak switchback, rock gardens made of wood blocks, and a studder pedal drill. Add a wall crossing and a valley traverse and you get the picture. The entire thing is set up as beginner, intermediate, and advanced loops with reward ribbons for completing each level.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
