Hello, my name is Tom. I reside in Wallingford, CT. with my wonderful wife, daughter, and son. I’ve been biking most of my life.
Local rides I like include Tyler Mill, Brooksvale, Cockaponset, Supply Ponds, Naugatuck, Bluff Point, Trumbull…. Hmmmm… never been on a ride I didn’t like.
Present bikes include a ‘97 Zaskar, ‘01 Uzzi SLX and just finished a ‘03 Sinister Ridge.
It’s nice to see a few from mtbr here as well. I’m slowly getting back in cycling shape after a very reluctant break (major house renovations).
I work in EE R&D by day; other time not biking (or house renovating) is spent drumming, tube amp design, fishing, and kayaking.
Hope to be welcomed here, contribute when I can and meet up on some sweet ST soon!
Cheers,
Tom

Hey Tom:
Welcome, remember admitting you have a problem is the first step.
Likewise - MTBing is top o' the list for me right now. I ride a custom Titus Racer-X. I live in CT - though I live up north - so Shenipsit, Case and Salmon River are my normal haunts. I need to get back to Concaponset, haven't been there in a while.
I noticed you said drumming - you in a band? Looking for one? The band I'm in is looking for a drummer if you or someone you know is interested, drop me a PM or e-mail (johnischAThotmailDOTcom).

a true bikeaholic would not waste their time messing with Kayaking!, unless however you had a bike rack mounted to the kayak and were using for transportation to a trail. And what is Home Improvement??!! a real bikeaholic (like me) would totally shrug off those responsibilities and delegate them to the kids and wife.
..anyway HI from Maine TJ! post some pictures of the Sinister!

Those extra cables and the widget at the wheel axle suggest an internal hub shifting system to me.

I was thinking Rohloff too but, the rear derailler threw me; unless it is acting as a chain tensioner?

Me too. Especially with that DH crank config even though the chain guides are missings. That derailleur is awful small. Might be a Singlenator. Definitely not the setup that I've ever come across. Pretty neat.

Welcome TJ - you'll fit right in with this crowd...
RE: Adam's bike - come on guys, Adam has been trying to tell us that Rohloff Hubs are the cats meow for over a year now...looking at the rear of his bike in the photo you can see the clickbox for the Rohloff shifter, and his rear disc brake - along with a glimpse of his chain tensioner. Sweet bike!
Rohloff has a high entry price, but is well worth it for folks that can't seem to make the whole cassette/derailer thing work for them...it surely takes "drivetrain" reliability to the next level. ;)

Tom welcome! You should definately check out the northern rides of CT: If you like to huck, head to Nepaug! Also check out Penwood. And since you are down in the Wallyworld area, head over to Hamden and check out West Rock.

I think I remember Adam posting before that he runs Rohloff Speedhub, but I'm not certain. I hope he explains his set up to us and also it would be great if he could tell us how he likes that Z150!! :o :o

Hey, THANKS for the great welcome everyone!
Jisch
Would like to ride Cockaponset again, I'll give you a yell/post once my endurance is back... usually do ~20mi. ride there. Pic attached.
Also, would be great to jam sometime, my plates pretty full right now though... and I thought BASS players were tuff to find.

Good to see ya again, say hey to the guys. Feed back welcome on the build... (maybe I'll sorta be a wrench yet)
Ridge shots too.

I rode Concaponset this past weekend. We did about 13 miles. I've been doing around 20 lately, so I was kinda disappointed when we started heading back down towards the cars and I realized the ride was over. It was like a trip down memory lane.. :P
What a great place to ride. Unfortunately it rained most of the ride, but still very nice ride with the Pedal Power dudes. We didn't do the staircase, I was so looking forward to that. I was just following, we didn't really talk about the route. Talk about a rocky ride, jeez. When you're ready - let me know.
We're trying out a drummer tomorrow night. We'll see.
