Can anyone give me the 411 on the Crawford Ridgepole trail near Plymouth? The guide book I have, Mountain Bike New Hampshire by Jeff Faust described an 8 mile loop. Wondering if there are any other trails in the area to lengthen it and if there are any good maps available... Thanks!

I'm familiar with the ride descibed in the book. To lengthen the ride some and to ride the best the trail has to offer....start at Sandwich Notch Road and head over Mts. Doublehead , Percival, Morgan and Webster. If you have a car spotted at the pond...head out as the book describes. If you can spot the car in Holderness....leave it at the trailhead for Old Mountian Road (near the science center). Check this out on the AMC topo maps...get a good lay of the land
Expect to do some ;) hike-a-bike.....and that this is going to be a whole day event. This time of year....leave early and bring a light. The sections of ridge between the various peaks is a blast, with some exposed granite ledges ;D...and .....there are NO restrictions that I have been able to find on riding these trails.
Have a great time!
While I think of it....maybe we could do some scheduled trailwork around this area and help to insure that these trails stay open for us to use.

Oh crap I missed this post Tom.. I just rode this loop on Sunday 10/5. A Good hour of rough hike and bike at the top, but well worth it! One of the best long smooth switchback downhills ever! seriously the hour long descent is spectacular! Our total loop took us about 5 hours. We were the only car in the parking lot at 8am, and only passed two groups of hikers, but when we got back at 1pm there must have been about a 100 cars- go early!
