yeah, I've been kind of crazy busy lately. Been riding mosltly at Belmont. I bought a new snowboard for the upcoming season so I'm pretty psyched for the snow now. How've you been?

I ski! Well, I try anyway. As with mountain biking, I picked up skiing at an older age (27/28). My skiing ability just has not come around like like my MTB ability has. I still try though. :)

Skiing is awesome fun, but I haven't been in a few years now.

Hoping to get out on the slopes this winter though.

I'd love to try snowboarding - looks like a lot of fun.

I picked up skiing super quick because of all the time I spent on hockey skates growing up - I suspect snowboarding will present a much greater challenge. But I'm up for giving it a go this winter.

Hey, I'm an old bastard too. I mean snowboarder. What were we talking about?

Oh yeah - remember those early days when Saddleback & Loon were the ONLY ski areas that allowed boards? I called Sunday River (1986) and they told me "we have no intentions of allowing snowboards in the future". Money talks.....

I have a Snurfer (remember those?) that's on display at the New England Ski Museum. Jeez, talk about feeling old.

The snow that Mt. Washington has recieved over the past couple days made me re-read this thread.

Skiing since 1967.......Yes, I'm frikkin' old....SIGH!

Season will start soon......looks like Tenney Mt. will really piss off killington this year by beating them by being the first area in the US to open....they bought that new snow making system that makes snow at ANY temp.....pretty cool to go tubing on snow in August!

Gee....time to get the skiis tuned....and the studded Nokians out!!!!!!

I teach snowboarding at wachussett. Once were all open we should do a big ride..Snowboarding that is ( skiers too) that would be a blast. Damn Todd ridin since 85. I remember talking to you about that last year but 85 WOW... I didnt even know it was around that long. The closest thig I did to boarding then was standing up in those old cheesy plastic sleds. Anyone for okemo this weekend? John

Snowboarder over here. I hate to say it but I am more insane about snowboarding than bikes. Been riding since 1982-83. Way back when I was 12, 32 now!

Just got my season pass to Jay Peak. Can't wait for the snow to start falling, even though this has been a great trail riding season. Prob. do the first ride first weekend in Dec.

I got the mid-week pass good for Stratton and Okemo. I've been hitting them pretty hard. I'm itching for some tree riding but the natural snow has been sort of light as of late in southern Vermont.

I'm also looking for some backcountry adventures. I'd like to get to Tuckerman's soon, but my abilities aren't not up to par. Does anyone know of tamer, less well-known spots?

Speaking of Tuckerman's, I came across this bitchin' site:

Z's got a Backcountry skiing and boarding article in the works for the next Single Tracks!

If I told you my secret backcountry spots I'd have to kill you, but Vermont has a lot of them!

funny, I was just thinking about you the other day Big Game, and miss your absolutely idiotic ranting. Where is your Solid Gold Snowboard?

Skiing, since like the mid 70's. Started out doing nordic jumping in the Bill Kock ski league (I sucked and was too scared to go big, so went home). Picked up DH from there and XC in college.

I should have known it would have you that dabbled in nordic jumping. I skiied GS and Slalom competitively for a few years and decided on one training trip to Lake Placid to try jumping. Well I sally-ed out on the littlest hill. Never understand what motivated people to do that....not to mention they make you walk back up! Stupid.

ive been boarding since i was 5, so i guess ive been boarding for about 10 years. i tried skiing again this past season and nearly messed up my knee quite badly. i guess i could say im a freerider seeing as how i cant do tricks or rails but when it comes to just cruising down the slopes i dominate. i just got my season pass thing for loon, cranmore, and waterville so providing the season is good to me i can go every weekend seeing as how im not playing hockey anymore.

My son snowboards, just learned to link his turns together last year. I've been skiing since 1964, and eventhough I took 10 years off, I tried the new shaped skis and it was like I never took the 10 years off. I raced in high school, and did a couple of NASTAR races after that, but I don't race any more.

i vaguely remember learning how to carve. now its quite easy for me. but i need a freeride oriented board so i can hold the turn longer like you see in pictures and videos of the guys doing long sweeping turns. my boards that i have ridden are all too snappy and dont allow me to just get set on an edge and hold a turn. i cant wait for this season. ill finally be able to get out every weekend unlike all of the past years. town league hockey really messes up your social life and other stuff in your life so im glad that thats all over with. after playing for about 10 years i just got so burnt out.
