Just saw this posted on the MTB-Whitemountains List... sounds pretty cool! I haven't ridden there, and it sounds somewhat epic too.
Anyone thinking of going?
2003 Hoof 'n Wheeze (among the Trees) Trail Festival
Sunday October 5, 9 to 3 p.m.
Basic Idea: Bring hikers, mountain bikers, and horse back riders to the same grassroots festival. Separate sets of clearly marked trails will be offered for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Guided and self guided off-road rides on the 40 mile plus network, including a mega loop orienteering ride to the top of panoramic Teneriffe Mt.
Where: the 3,000 acre Branch Hill Farm in Milton Mills, NH off Exit 18 on the Spaulding Turnpike
Why: to benefit Moose Mountains Regional Greenways -- a highly active land preservation group working in Milton, Farmington, New Durham, Middleton, Brookfield, and Wakefield.
Why again: excellent varied terrain riding, live r&b music (Soul Junket and more), food and drink, kid's races, pony rides, face painting, tug of war (mtn bikers vs. horsefolks), and a major silent auction.
Fee: $10 for mountain bike riders, under 12 are free
Directions: From the Spaulding Turnpike take Exit 18 (also the exit for the Farm Museum). Take a right at the base of the ramp. Take the next left, this becomes Applebee Road, and follow about 1 mile until Branch Hill Farm on left.
