Hi,
Anyone out there have any feedback on the WTB Raptor
line of tires?
Im considering the Moto Raptor and the Mutano Raptor.
Pros / cons of each?
Thanks

I think tires are one of those personal preference things.

I typically ride slower, rocky, rooty, technical trails where pinch flats are an issue and you need a durable, well sixed tire that can hook up.

I rode most of last season with a Mutano Raptor 2.24 up front. I was impressed and would recommend the Mutano Raptor. Better than some of the Maxxis, IRC, and Specialized tires I tried.

I put a Tioga Factory DH 2.1 on the back and they worked well together.

However, Currently I am running Continental Vertical Pro (with reinforced sidewall) 2.3's and would highly recommend them. A bit more expensive but so far this year so good.

Hope this helps.

I forgot to add..

The Conti's seem to wear faster than the Mutano Raptor.

My Conti's are wearing fairly fast as well. But perhaps that's due to my riding around my apartment complex with my son Liam. More pavement exposure than normal. Liam loves to follow me around the complex going over curbs and down steep slopes on the grounds etc. It's a lot of fun, but probably not good on tire life.

Oh well!

There are so many damned tires to choose from! Mind boggling!

Thanks Noo. Our terrian sounds similiar, alibiet with much less skill on this end. Durable is the key in my mind. I'll take a look at the Continental Vertical Pro s

I'll throw my 2¢ in.

Last year I swore by Tioga DH 2.1s. Still a great tire. Still use it on a couple bikes.
This year I'm all about the Kenda 2.35 Stick-Es. Awesome traction. The 2.35 Kenda is lighter than the 2.1 Tiogas without sacrificing sidewall thickness.

Thank you fellow Dawg owner. I'll add the Kenda 2.35 Stick-Es to my consideration list. (rapdidly growing!)

Althrought the Mud and spring riding season I road WTD Velocraptors. 2.1" these worked great my only real bitch is that they are heavy.

I use the Velociraptors year round. The grip and last for a long time.
I tried the Motoraptors - they grip less well, and they're bigger and heavier, 2.3s rather than 2.1s.

Same here, more and more live each ride. Its way more bike than I need at present, but will grow into it as my skills develope. Other than wearing out the srock Tioga Extreme XC tires (600 miles or so) and a broken rear shock bolt, it is one flawless heck of a machine.
Good idea on the screen name change!
