Radair / Z:

I'm looking to set-up a N Conway area ride/tour Sat. August 2nd if you are availible. Maybe some of the NH Nemba people (Old Broad, NH Hiker, etc.) might be interested in driving up for the day as well? Any interest? ???

Hey Steve, How are you doing? Unfortunately Oldbroad and I are both booked on 8-2.....Otherwise that does sound good and we would love to ride with you again. We were up there on Vacation during the first week of July, we had a great time. I would reccomend you stop at either the little map shop in Lincoln or across the street at northcountry outfitters and bike shop and pay $9.00 for an great map of the bike trails off the Kangamangus hiway. This map gives you accurate and detailed trail directions....a real life saver. There is some great single and double track all through that area. A good hint will be start at bear notch road and leave a car there and you can do a loop and come out at the same spot. Oldbroad and I did a 21 mile loop that was gorgeous but isolated....so make sure everybody has there bike in good shape and bring food and plenty of H2O. Please feel free to PM me and I will give you my phone number if you want some more info. Go and have a great time but post some pics later. Oh and look out for the moose turds.
best of luck and let us know how you make out.

NHhiker:

Thanks for the info. I have the "Rob Brook Mtn Bike Map". Is this the one you are talking about? The "Waterproof White Mountains Trail Map" is good also.

I have ridden the along the Kanc, and it is truly great riding. I was hoping to set up a group ride though, as I usually ride in this area solo. The pics from the Whitehorse Ledge ride looked great!

Steve, I believe the map I had was the waterproof WM trail map you referenced. I would PM Radair.....He can brobably hook you up with some riding companions. That whole Robbrook area is not a good place to ride alone...or I should say get injured or disabled as cell phones are strictly glow in the dark paperwieghts in most of the valley. So becarful if you go it alone my friend. Again I am sorry I can't make it as we are heavily booked for the rest of the summer. But have fun!

I guess I missed this thread before. I am seriously considering a ride up in N Conway the weekend of August 2nd. PM me with details and I'll likely join in...

I live in CT, so I'm thinking of driving up Friday afternoon and I would like to get a good 20-30 miler in on Saturday.

Harry:

I'll be in the Conway area again around Labor Day weekend. Maybe set up a ride then?

Jisch:

I'll keep you posted on any details. I sent Radair a pm. Hopefully, he will be free to show us the trails! 8)

On a side note, I'd be interested in a Shenipsit tour sometime. Maybe we could set-up a ride involving IAB, MBC, McG, you, me, and anyone else who is interested.

I e-mailed Radair a week or so ago, he said he could, at a minimum, hook me up with some folks to show me a trail or two, but I haven't nailed down particulars yet.

How about Sunday for Shenipsit? My wife and kids will be leaving to visit in-laws on Saturday. I'm going to have some time over the next few weeks.

I could do Saturday but not Sunday. Thanks for the offer, though. The weekend of August 16th, or 23rd might work, (prefer saturdays) or maybe sometime in September?

I gotta get the family off to the airport on Saturday... Wouldn't be a good thing for me to be riding ;D

August 16th looks like it might work, but I won't know for sure until it gets closer.

Anyone in on this? Any details? I'd like to do it, but I need to get some planning done if I'm going to do it.

I plan on riding Saturday August 2nd in N. Conway group or solo. If no one else can make it, I can meet you someplace easy to find such as the Albany covered bridge off of the Kanc. This is also where the Lower Nanamocomuck trail starts.

Hmmm. I just called the wife approved dog kennel and they are booked this weekend. Dang it. I'll keep trying. Its a 4 hour trip for me. I don't know if I've got that in me as a day trip.

Let me keep working it here and see what I can come up with.

This area is awesome. I usually do: Hastings, Highwater, and then the Wild River trail as an out-n-back. Brutal sections no doubt, but a great place to ride. ;D

Todd:

Just curious about how you're carrying your stuff? Bob trailer, paneers or back pack? Sounds like a great trip, I'd love to be part of something like that!

Unfortunately my weekend trip to NH is not looking good right now.

Unfortunately I'm going not going to be able to get up to NH this weekend. Can't find a suitable place for the dog. Who knew the kennels filled up like this?

I do appreciated Radair's kind offer and I hope to make it up there sometime.

I'll post some pictures Monday, but a BoB trailer is out of the question. Last couple of hours is a steep HIKE and terrain is rough, so I like to keep the bike as light as possible. Some guys use a rear rack, but I throw everything in a 30 liter deuter pack. Minimalist camping gear and cloths. Bivy bag, 3/4 mattress. One guy carries the stove, one carries fuel, one carries water purifier etc... Split up the bike tools. Maybe one tarp if it rains, Flask of tequila. The views and riding up top on the slick rock is worth all work. Every year I manage to find something I didn't need to carry. Anyone is welcome to join us just as long as your in good physical condition because it's TOUGH!

Definitely sounds like my kind of trip. I love doing stuff like that.

We used to do a weekend trip to Mount Marcy in the Adirondacks every winter on skis. Sounds similar to what you guys are doing.

Looking forward to the pics.

Sorry Steve, I've not been to the forums in a while. Looks like I missed all sorts of fun.

I'm going to be taking my daughter to summer camp on Saturday afternoon. I could do a ride late in the day. Let me know if you're still coming. Best bet is to e me at radair AT allpointstech DOT com.

Weather looks a little iffy.

Jeez Todd, thanks for the invite. I couldn't go anyway.

The ride was great. ;D Rob showed me Whitehorse Ledge. Awesome views, exposed smooth rock, and rooty NH singletrack. My digicam is too big to take along, but I believe we did a similar loop as the one that Todd posted pics from a couple weeks ago.

Thanks againg Rob. Great ride! 8)
