View Full Version : Wanted: Front Wheel
July 21st, 2003, 03:02 PM
Looking for durable front wheel that is rim brake compliant (e.g. Sun Ryno Lite on Deore Hub for example). Intended use is for a HT set up for "unskilled" Urban, Park and General "reliving my youth" Mayhem riding.
Must be CHEAP and have some life left in it.
This is your day to give something back ;) Will also trade but don't have much left. (Beer, Mavic Crossride, RaceFace Stem, Titec Ti Flat Bar, Titec Hellbent 1* riser, Mavic 238, assorted cranks).
Hook a fella up!
Thanks,
NOO

I might have something for you. I have a Mavic 139 rim on the front of my Jekyll. By the end of the week it will be on the shelf after I upgrade to discs. It's been around the block a few times but is pretty straight. It definitely has some life left in it. I'm new at this so I am not sure what it's worth. What are you willing to fork over? -- ha, ha, pun intended.
Matthew
PS I'm in Avon, CT

Phreshness - I appreciate the offer but that is similiar to the rim I am replacing.
Squarebush - Is that a 32 hole? Hub?

I have an older front wheel that I am looking to part with that just might be what you are looking for. It is still in very good shape (very even spoke tension, round and straight) which speaks volumes about how well it was built. It is a SUNTOUR XC-Pro Grease Guard hub (!!!!) yeah that’s right Suntour, the bearings are nice and smooth and lubing them is just a matter of squirting in some grease. The rim is a Mavic 261, the same genre as the M231 (their top race rim) but quite a bit wider. It is not as wide as a Rhyno, it is comparable to a Mavic 519 rim of today, basically a perfect front wheel rim. 32 DT 14 ga. spokes - alloy nipples. This wheel was built by Colorado Cyclist…like I said it is still very nice. I am in Belmont MA if you want ot take a look, I could post some pics too.

I was joking. You will see most of my banter is some form of ridiculousness.
