We have been gradually increasing the challenges for the riders on the skills clinics. We always cover the basics for new attendees and provide individual attention to riders specific concerns. The ride at Harold parker will focus on "clearing obstacles". This means going over things in the trail instead of around. It is a class and we will repeat the same trail or obstacle as many times as the riders wish until they feel comfortable with the skill. We don't go far or fast, but if you like to jump over logs and rocks or want to learn how, you will have fun. Alternate instruction will be available for those needing practice with basic skills

Directions: We will meet at the parking area at the corner of Harold Parker Road and Jenkins road. From 93 take rte 125 north and take a right at the State Police barracks. When i posted the description for this ride i assumed the attendance would dwindle due to the general aversion to trail obstacles held by most beginners.

Boy was i wrong.

15 eager riders showed up at Harold Parker last night, some as much as an hour early, to spend a fun filled evening hopping over downed trees. Men, Women, and kids lined up and took turns building the skills and physical memory needed to overcome these dreaded trail obstacles. 4 inch branches to logs over a foot, singles, doubles, table tops. Uphill, down hill, even while turning. Everyone did a great job. They are beginning to replace their fear with determination, to see the challenge not as a burden but as an opportunity to display feats of agility, to dance along the trail with your bike as your partner in an improvised bunny hop ballet.

Well thats how i saw it ::)
