All,

We have scheduled an emergency repair for the Bear Brook Trail at Bear Brook State Park, this Saturday, June 21 at 9:00am.

One of the sections of trail near the river had a log retainer that has broken loose, part of the trail is washing away and is presently a dangerous spot. We need to act fast if we are going to save this part of trail before further damage occurs.

This will be a big project and we need many hands! Rally your friends to help us out. The more folks we have the sooner we can finish and go riding!

We will need a headcount on this project so please contact Paul Chevrette if you can attend at: paulchev2001@yahoo.com

We will meet at the Hiker/Biker parking lot at 9:00am, wear work clothes, eye protection, water and pack a lunch. Don’t forget to bring your bike for a ride afterwards, helmets required.

Please let Paul know if you can attend.
Thank you and see you on the trails!

Rode the trail first thing and again at the end of the R&R ride last Saturday (cause it's such a cool trail). Everything was fine in the AM but noticed the collapse in the PM. Saw about 8 equestrians coming off the trail, and it's a pretty good guess that they loosened things up. Are horses appropriate on this trail? Lucky one didn't slide down the bank into the brook :o - that would probably close the trail for everybody.

I don't know about appropriate, but just about all of the trails at BB are multi-use. Anyone get a chance to ride the additional sections of the Bear Brook trail before and after the "official" roast n ride loop section? Some nice rooty stuff right at stream level. ;D
